May Vs. June Birchbox

As I listen to the Top 50 Pop Songs on iTunes Radio, a song from the was-then-Disney star, Hillary Duff, blares… I know, I was as shocked as you are! It is called “Sparks” and kind of reminds me of the ‘sparks’ in my eyes once I saw the May Birchbox placed on my desk (I had to). I was packing for a 12 day Europe journey… praying for sample sized goodies.

The Harvey Prince Yogini perfume was my signature scent while shopping in London, hiking in Scotland, and partying in Denmark! Light, citrus notes with hints of mysterious jasmine make it the perfect day-to-night formula. I also enjoyed the Lollibalm with its almost poignant rose aroma and veil pink coverage – it is my current lip obsession! I am a sucker for packaging… so, TokyoMilk’s Shea Butter Lotion in Kabuki got my heart racing! The sweet scent of vanilla and fruity twists of lychee and grapefruit create a unique combo.

I was not nearly as excited for the CōTZ Flawless Complexion with SPF 50… kind of a thick formula with an oily finish. I am a HUGE fan of the Macadamia Professional Moisture Mask – it makes my hair feel like silk! Unfortunately, the Moisture Oil Treatment does not get my vote because it is a bit too harsh on my blonde locks.

The June Birchbox was fitting for the vibrant, sunny (and suddenly hot) month that welcomes summer ! Mine was labeled “Next Stop: Adventure” with an array of cosmetics to help you beat the heat. I am SUPER excited to try the Paula’s Choice Moisturizer because my skin has been super dry… Plus, it is a generous amount of product! The Coola Sport Sunscreen is also eye catching from the Mango scent and Caribbean turquoise packaging. I plan on taking this sample with me to Bermuda in July. Do they have fresh mangos on that island??

The Dr.Jart+ Ceramidin Cream was not a surprise. I have tried this product before from Sephora… I guess it was okay, but not significant, since I lost all memory of its effects. The Number 4 Super Comb Prep + Protect was another repeat, but this time… I remembered how much I liked this after-shower necessity! The Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner was another dud. Instead of the dark, rich purple, I wish Birchbox offered a vibrant liner! I could totally go for an electric blue or jungle green.

The Pura Vida Lace Headband was a great addition to this box! In fact, I put it on seconds after opening for my evening treadmill run (it has Google Maps on it, which is pretty cool).

How did you like the May and June Birchboxes? Did you find any favorites? Were you surprised with your sample choices?

My Time In London, England

#LillyforTarget Extravaganza

#LillyforTarget OverviewYes, I was one of those crazy shoppers waiting in line outside of Target to snag my share of Lilly Pulitzer clothing and it was a mad house! I arrived around 7 AM and was 5th in line… the first group of girls arrived at 6 AM (that is determination). Luckily, my local Target is in a quaint, upstate town of New York – the perfect location compared to Targets down south. I sprinted into the store and grabbed all clothing in my sizes… there were only two racks for tons of people! Here are the vibrant outfits I was lucky enough to get!

The classic Lilly dresses with colorful fabrics and lace detail that were the first garments to fly off the racks! I especially love the hot pink and blue dresses. Bella Thorne wore the Fan Dance dress (on the left) to a press event celebrating #LillyforTarget.

I am in love with the navy fabric called Upstream! It is the perfect transition color from spring to summer. The lace coverup on the left has beautiful, gold details on the collar and the white lace top is very, very intricate (for only $32)!

The satin dress on the left in the Boom Boom print is incredibly comfy – the perfect summer outfit paired with a long necklace or belt. This dress does run a bit large… the small on me is equivalent to an oversized t-shirt! I also absolutely adore this romper in the print Happy Place. It really does bring a smile to your face with the warm, youthful colors and will partner nicely with a summer glow! This was the only romper from the collection and on of the hero pieces – when you think of #LillyforTarget, this comes to mind!

Did y’all get a chance to pick anything up on Sunday from #LillyforTarget? I would love to hear your shopping experience in the comments!

LUSH Shampoo Fest

Finding time to post about my passion has been difficult lately because of traveling, work, and overall LIFE! But… back to the daily grind. I have gone through lots of LUSH Cosmetic shampoos. The summer makes me dirty and sweaty = more LUSHious showers!

Daddy-O Shampoo: Daddy-O is a violet scented wonderland for lighter hair. Gray and blonde tones benefit most from this dark, earthy, purple liquid because it reduces the brass effect. Floral hints are noticeable through the citrus and violet ingredients. I really enjoy using Daddy-O. It is one of my favorite LUSH Cosmetic shampoos because it is very foamy, colorful, and smells like heaven! Also, it doesn’t hurt that it makes my blonde hair, blonder!

I Love Juicy Shampoo: This shampoo was made for oily hair. Ingredients include pineapple and mango which soak up excess oils to achieve a fresh wash. I tried I Love Juicy because of the awakening citrus aroma. It reminds me of summertime sunshine, freedom, and happiness. Do you like this shampoo?

Cynthia Sylvia Stout Shampoo: Unlike I Love Juicy, Cynthia Sylvia Stout helps dry hair since it contains BEER (yes, beer you drink). LUSH buys organic stout beer from local breweries because it has a special protein that gives hair weight with a smooth texture. Unfortunately, I do not love this LUSH shampoo. It is a bit too odd… I have a hard time enjoying the smell of beer in my shower and thinking it is “refreshing.” My hair also gets pretty oily…!

Seanik Solid Shampoo Bar: My go-to product in Kauai was Seanik. The wonderful smell and lather created the perfect end to a perfect beach day! This solid shampoo bar is perfect! In fact, I just finished my last bit and reordered it instantly. The seaweed cocktail makes your hair soft as a feather while the sea salt adds volume. I highly recommend Seanik to any solid shampoo bar fanatic! Hey – even this LUSH customer from Kuwait cannot get enough of the shampoo bars!

#lilly5x5 – Social Media

So for all of my social media followers, my inner Communications college student is ready to talk social media! As you probably can tell from my older posts… I am a huge Lilly Pulitzer fan! They have a great media presence and are always using unique, creative tactics. My favorite campaign they have been doing is the #lilly5x5 (I linked their Pinterest account here of all their #lilly5x5’s). Every few days Lilly accounts will post a #lilly5x5 creates by one of their print designers. Here are three of my latest favorites:

Favorite #1: First off, I love the colors in this 5×5… they are awesome. Green with fuchsia is a great look. Putting the lemurs in the picture is also very interesting! Normally, when you think of Lilly Pulitzer you think of flowers, birds, sun, beach, etc. Not MONKEYS?! The caption for this picture says “It is Friday fur sure #lilly5x5.” Did anyone notice the pun?! Lilly always uses creative puns in their captions. This #lilly5x5 was found on their Instagram account (@lillypulitzer).

Favorite #2: This one caught my eye with all the colors! It is so so so beautiful. These look like huge leaves in a rainforest that are very very verdant with light blue highlights. The caption for this #lilly5x5 is: “#Janus… a peace offering. #lilly5x5.” You might be thinking what #Janus is… and I was too! After doing some research, #Janus is a winter storm that just hit New York City! Haha wow cannot believe I didn’t know that! The storm was more coastal and was not big enough to reach my home town in upstate NY. I would rather be basking in this #lilly5x5 rather than shoveling through the snow.

Favorite #3: This is a more subtle #lilly5x5. The caption for this one from the @lillypulitzer Instagram account is “We’re telling “nauti” tales in the Print Studio today… Happy Friday! #lilly5x5.” Again… another PUN! Lilly loves their wacky, creative puns. I love the anchor with the fish swimming around it. Anchors are a huge fad right now.

So those are all the #lilly5x5’s I have for now to share! I love doing these types of posts and finding new companies that keep up with social media trends. What are your favorite companies to follow on social media?!

LUSH Sea Spray Review

So I just used the Sea Spray from LUSH last night and forgot how much I loved it! It really is a great after the shower or bath spray to give your hair a beach-y vibe. The smell is also great! It reminds me of living on the beach or visiting in the beach… in short, it reminds me of everything beach!

Here is a product image:

SMELL: Like I said above, the smell of this product is great! It’s LUSH twin would for sure be BIG shampoo. THey both have the same salty aroma that reminds you of running on the beach with the wind in your hair!

LOOK: The spray is clear and light. In fact, it does not feel like you sprayed any product in your hair at all when used! It just makes your hair smell great with a beach aroma. I would say that the spray and texture is very very similar to most of the LUSH toners.

EXPECTATIONS: This really made my hair have beach curls! I was surprised and happy with the effect Sea Spray had on my hair. It created relaxed, chill waves. Although, I took my shower in the evening and used the product at night and then slept on my wet hair. This could have skewed the effect but it looked and worked great!

If you are looking for a simple spray that will give your hair some body and a relaxed, polished style, I highly suggest this product! It is great… the smell is phenomenal and the expectations were over achieved for my taste! I really have no negative feelings about this LUSH spray! Lilly Pulitzer Social Media Favorites

As a Southern Bell, I am a huge fan of the tropical and colorful prints Lilly Pulitzer creates. I especially love all of the prints which make you want to bathe in the sun, attend a party on the beach or make you want to travel through all of the Florida Keys.

Since my love for Lilly is growing and I appreciate it more (I currently am trying to survive a frigid winter), I have started to follow Lilly Pulitzer on almost every social media outlet. I picked three of my favorite posts in the last year to share with y’all!

1. The Bow Tie Post: I really like this post and think it stands out from the rest because it talks about BOY Lilly. Who knew?! It makes sense that Lilly has a hard time relating to the male crowd because they create very feminine prints. But it was a joy to see the company posting about bow ties for once!

IMG_1314

2. The Zodiac Post: This is one of my favorite Lilly posts because… I am a Leo and really enjoy reading my horoscope! Another factor that makes this post interesting is the line “We’re celebrating Leo!” because it makes you feel important and special. It was also a good move to make a Leo print that relates with all of the “Leo’s” out there. It will be interesting to see if Lilly makes prints and creates a horoscope for all of the Zodiac signs.

3. Sweater Weather Post: This post probably relates to a lot of people right now because of the beginning of the winter and holiday seasons. This is a very interactive posts because it shows the results of a previous contest. Although only a few letters are available, it was important for Lilly to note that more letters will be added and another competition will be held. (I actually just ordered the “A” sweater for myself!)
