Why LUSH? My Career Goal.

I have been thinking lately, why LUSH? How is LUSH different from other beauty companies? What makes LUSH stand out? Why do I want to work at LUSH? These are all questions that I want to answer in this post right now. I want to stand out and show LUSH how much I appreciate their branding, company, communications, products, social media, views, missions, and so on.

This is the question I get from everyone. They are always curious to know why I picked LUSH to write about. Well here are a few reasons ( I could honestly go on and on when answering this question):

  • Company Values – LUSH changed my view on the entire beauty industry. It has taught me that an individual can make a difference. For instance, I can recycle my LUSH perishables such as pots, boxes, and bags to help the environment.
  • Positive Outlook – Another HUGE factor of LUSH that draws me in is their statement, “happy people making happy products.” I have always been a negative thinker who worries constantly. I day dream about all of the negative things that could happen that day. I am learning to be more positive and LUSH has gotten my back on that track. Going into LUSH stores, liking LUSH social media, reviewing LUSH products, sitting in my bath for hours on end inhaling the aromas of LUSH… those are just a few of the many things that LUSH adds to my life.
  • Acceptance – I also think accepting everyone for who they are is important and right. LUSH companies are full of individuals who have accepted themselves. They accept the facts that they might be different, think differently, have different values or morals. Bottom line is that LUSH supports and values people who know their inner selves and do not change for anyone.
  • The Campaigns – LUSH also has some of the most heart-warming, just, and compelling campaigns I have ever seen a beauty company develop. They want to make a difference not only in enviornmentaly friendly beauty, but also in the world. They want to help people of developing countries who suffer from human right violations. They want to spread the universal right of equality.
  • Vegetarian, Vegan, Fresh, Handmade, Natural, Cruelty-Free, Fair Trade, etc. – Think of all types of characteristics that define environmentally friendly beauty, mesh all of these qualities together, and you have LUSH! LUSH does not disappoint. Every product they make is cruelty-free, handmade, fresh, and natural. They offer every single ingredient they put in products and even have a LUSHopedia where they further describe ingredients. I am sure many people are like me and want to know what they are putting on their bodies. They do not want a bunch of process chemicals that are tested on poor animals. People want products straight from the earth where local communities and societies harvest the ingredients. Consumers want products that do not harm our earth.. they want products that can make a difference. LUSH can make a difference.
  • LUSH Social Media – LUSH has the best social media presence. They are active on all outlets. Their YouTube channel is phenomenal. I sit and watch LUSH videos almost every night to learn more about the products, campaigns, and employees. LUSH Instagram and Twitter are also real-time and active. I enjoy liking and commenting on each post to provide my personal inputs. LUSH Blog has so many interesting stories that take events and actions from the real world and applies them to LUSH products and values. LUSH Pinterest is dangerous… I could spend almost five hours straight looking at all the pins. LUSH also has a great amount of audience feedback and participation. They offer so many opportunities for one to enter into LUSH competitions with winners receiving LUSH surprise gifts. The social media of LUSH is just so phenomenal.

My dream and goal is to intern and work for LUSH. I want to be a part of the company and cherish each day in the corporate office. The LUSH Communications and PR department is where my interest and dreams lie. I want to learn how LUSH stand out and creates a brand that is irresistible. I want to learn how LUSH stays true to their company values. I want to learn how LUSH creates products that are innovative, fresh, new, unique and healthy. I want to learn how LUSH stays handmade in a world of growing factories. I want to learn how LUSH became so successful and why.

I WANT TO INTERN FOR LUSH! Please share, reblog, comment, and like this blog. Share it with your friends. I want to show LUSH why I would be the perfect intern. I want to be a part of LUSH.

Help me get the attention of the LUSH PR Department and Communication headquarters in NYC. Help me achieve my goal of interning for LUSH!

Vanillary – The Sweet Perfume

Hello all! I am actually writing this blog post on an airplane on my way to Houston, TX for Spring Break! I am ecstatic to see my boyfriend, friends, and like always, eat lots of Mexican food! I decided to post about one of LUSH’s most popular perfumes, Vanillary! This is a super super sweet aroma that is perfect and cozy for this wintertime! Here is a picture of my Vanillary spray bottle and the Gorilla Perfume sample sheets (which I thought were adorable):

AROMA: Like I said above, this smell is extremely sweet. Honestly, if you are not a fan of vanilla or sugary scents, this Gorilla Perfume is NOT for you! It is almost as sweet smelling as the Snow Fairy LUSH Christmas scent. I really like the smell though! I have been spraying it on my scarves that I wear because it adds a sweet and comforting aroma to my day!

BOTTLE: I got the 0.3 oz. size, which is like the travel spray bottle. They offer this LUSH Vanillary scent in three different sizes. The size I have, the solid perfume and the larger bottle that is 1 oz. The size I got is the perfect one because I can easily throw it in my bag and spray it on throughout the day.

INGREDIENTS: The fresh ingredients in this LUSH product are: jasmine absolute, vanilla absolute, tonka absolute and much much more.

HOW TO GET: This perfume is available in stores and online. Like I stated above, the scent comes in three different sizes! It is not retiring anytime soon. Around the holidays, they also came out with a Vanillary Gift which included the Vanilla Dee-Lite body lotion, Vanillary solid perfume, and finally, the Vanillary perfume.

Have you ever tired this perfume? If so, how do you like the scent?

Porridge Soap Review

Hello all! Sorry for not posting yesterday. Tuesdays are my busy school days! It is another dreary day here today in New York! I have been using the LUSH Porridge Soap this winter. Here are some pictures of my Porridge soap slice in the packaging and out of the package:

SKIN TYPE: This is great soap because it does not dry out my already dry and sensitive skin. I really enjoy how creamy the soap is. It is almost as creamy as Sultana of Soap without the exfoliating oatmeal.

SMELL: I love the smell of this soap. To me, this aroma is mixed with syrup and honey… it is very very sweet! But, not as sweet as the Honey I Washed The Kids soap from LUSH!

EXFOLIATION: This soap is filled with many oatmeal chunks. It is super super super exfoliating. It almost is a bit TOO scratchy. Although, I like using this soap because it exfoliates my dead skin and moisturizes in one!

INGREDIENTS: The ingredients in this soap are rapeseed oil, pinhead oatmeal, fresh organic orange juice, sweet orange oil and much more! Like all LUSH soaps, you can get a piece based on the price you want. This piece was around $10 and is a generous size since they last a while!

Here is a picture of me with the large chunk of the Porridge Soap at the Herald Square LUSH store located in NYC:

Enchanted Eye Cream

Another LUSH review coming at you…! Of course, I wanted to go along with the LUSH facial cleanser campaign for LUSH USA. I wanted to review the Enchanted Eye Cream from LUSH. Here is a picture of my lovely bottle:

LIGHT: This eye cream is super light. It almost feels like you are putting NOTHING at all on your skin! I use ti under my eyes and on my eye lids! It feels cooling and very refreshing.

SMELL: Surprisingly, this LUSH product really does not have any distinct smell. At least when I use it I cannot smell anything strong! LUSH says that the product is a mixture of lavender and honey!

EFFECTS: I have not noticed any different effects on my eyes. I am not positive what the product is doing for me. When I bought it, the sales lady told me it was for dark circles but LUSH says it is for tightening up your skin near your eyes! Maybe it i tightening up my skin…. but I am not sure. Also, this is one of the first ever eye creams I have used!

FRESH INGREDIENTS: The fresh ingredients in this airy cream are cold pressed jojoba oil, lavender honey water, cold pressed almond oil and much much more! This is not a Vegan product from LUSH.

Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who wants a light cream that is good for all skin types! Like I said above, I am not sure what this product is doing for me but I have been putting it on a few times a week since last Fall. Have you tried any eye creams that do something for you?!

Lexington NYC LUSH Haul

So I am in a good mood today and decided it was time for my next LUSH haul post! I am a huge LUSHie (if you cannot already tell by now). I spend most of my money on LUSH products. I really do not buy any other products… except for maybe nail polish! But this is it. Plus, I have a goal to review every LUSH year round product and recent holiday products on this blog! So here is one of my most recent major LUSH hauls from LUSH Lexington in NYC (I got all of thee products when I went to the Spa, you can see that blog post here):

  • King of Skin butter bar – I LOVE this product. This is actually a re-purchase for me. It is a shower must!
  • Sandstone soap – this is an awesome citrus exfoliating soap. I have already tried this product in the bath and have a new love.
  • Sikkim Girls Perfume – I have never tried one of LUSH’s Gorilla Perfumes. I thought it was about time! I got the smallest size in the Sikkim Girls scent. It also came in a really cute collectible jar. A review is on the way for this!
  • Demon in the Dark soap – I have never tried a full bar of this soap (only samples). I had to get a small sliver because it is retiring this year! Get it NOW if you like or want to try this product!
  • Tender is the Night massage bar – I have already done a review on this LUSH Valentines product. You can find that blog post here.
  • Eau Roma water toner – I just did a review about my Breath of Fresh Air toner. This is the next toner I decided to purchase from LUSH! Really excited to start using it.
  • Flying Fox shower gel – So this was an impulse… I recently just got into the LUSH shower gels. I just finished The Olive Branch (sad day)! But this is a great jasmine infused shower product! Cannot wait to review it!
  • Wise eye shadow – This is a product from the Emotional Brilliance line. Strangely, mine is not an eye shadow applicator but an eye liner one! And I love it… the LUSH sales lady talked me into it! I wear it quite often.
  • Aqua Mirabilis butter bar – This is very similar to the Buffy bar (which was my first LUSH product by the way). I like this… but it is supper nutty – you definitely have to like nuts to like this shower bar!
  • Lord Misrule bath bomb – I just had to get another one… I know this one was also in my last haul but I love it so much and it is retiring soon! I will be doing a review on this very soon!
  • Dream Time temple balm – The LUSH temple balms are only available at LUSH Spa locations. I was so happy to see this at the store! I got the Dreamtime scent which is very similar to the Dream Time bath melt. They also had Whoosh for the other scent.
  • Light Pink skin tint – This is a skin product from the Emotional Brilliance line. I actually am surprised that I cannot find this online at the LUSH USA store. I am in LOVE with this skin tint. I will do a review soon!

This was a super fun LUSH haul because I purchased many products which I normally would not try! Lots of newbies here! Let me know if you have tried any of these products?! What have you gotten in your recent LUSH haul?!

Face Stockholm Nail Lacquer Collection

This post is for my nail polish followers! I did another post about Face sharing my holographic polishes from them. This post goes along with that one to show all my normal polishes from them! So lets get started! I have 9 polishes from them:

So I will just explain each Face polish from left to right (by the way… face just numbers their polishes and does not give them specific names):

  • #83 garnet – this is a beautiful deep red polish. I use this a lot in the winter time. It is a great cranberry color for any skin type! This polish is also super glossy.
  • #124 classic red – this is truly a classic red! I just had this polish on my toes and loved it! Very vintage and very red!
  • #67 hot mango – I got this one over the summer of course! It really is a hot color! Very bright and lovely.
  • #132 sparkle bronze pink – I LOVE this color. I wear this one a lot… I would say it definitely is one of my most popular polishes in my collection. It is the perfect simple bronze shade.
  • #144 shimmer pink – I love how light this polish is… it is the perfect color to wear if you hate to see chips!
  • #101 cotton candy – this is a perfect light pink color. I use this one a lot on my nails! It is really cotton candy like!
  • #107 creamy hyacinth – this is a very beautiful light purple. I like how it is not to dark nor light. It is a great medium shade!
  • #35 orchid taupe – this is a lovely gray shade with a hint of purple. Just a hint though! Love wearing this all year round.
  • #70 baby blue – I love this blue! This is the perfect, perfect PERFECT light blue color!

So overall I love Face Stockholm polishes! I found this english brand because they have a few stores near me (Rhinebeck and Hudson, New York). I love the simple look of the polishes. The brushes are also lone and thin (perfect for smaller nail shapes). The only problem is that the colors do settle easily – you can probably tell in the pictures!

Have you ever tried Face Stockholm polishes?

Coalface Cleanser

Hello all! So I want to continue with the facial cleanser trend at LUSH! I have already done a few posts about the facial cleansers and moisturizers I use. Today… I though it would be nice to review Coalface facial cleanser:

SKIN TYPE: This facial cleanser is best for acne prone and oily skin! Although… my skin is dry and has some problem areas and I use this sparingly! When I have major break outs one week or am suffering from extreme redness I use Coalface. This facial cleanser has a gentle smell and is not to strong at all!

PRESERVATIVE-FREE: It is also nice that this bar does not have any preservatives! Less packaging the better right?! To use this product, you just rub it in your hands with some water and then put it on your face! This product is also Vegan.

INGREDIENTS: Like I say in every LUSH post… this product has fresh ingredients! Here are some: sandalwood oil, coconut oil, rapeseed oil, powdered charcoal and much much more.

So I would only suggest this cleanser for oily skin types and people who have problem areas! It is a lovely facial cleanser though… Surprisingly, this was my first face product I used from LUSH! They sent me a sample of it and I went and bought a whole bar the next day! Here is a little social media post from LUSH’s Facebook Page about their facial cleanser era:

Lexington LUSH Spa Experience

Here is an exciting post for you die-hard LUSHies out there like me! On February first I treated my mother and I to the brand new LUSH Spa in NYC on Lexington Ave. and 61st Street:

It was a WONDERFUL experience. I had the time of my life! I got The Comforter treatment and my mother got The Good Hour:

  • The Comforter? – This was such a whimsical LUSH treatment. The first part, I had a hot chocolate body scrub on my arms, shoulders, legs, and back! It smelled so great… they need to sell a version of that in stores! It would do very well I think. Second, I had a rolling, rose-oil massage. It went very well with the chocolate aroma! My favorite part of the massage was getting my back done… at that point you are so relaxed! The music was also an extremely unique… my music was very Disney-like because the treatment was whimsical. It was loud at first but after a while you get used to it and actually is relaxing and soothing!
  • The Good Hour – I do not know the exact details about this treatment since my mom got it instead of me. But, she told me a lot about it! First, she had to pick out a massage bar (I believe all of the choices were available for purchase in LUSH stores and online). She ended up picking the Wiccy Magic Muscles massage bar and you can find my blog post on it here. The Good Hour is a deep tissue massaged that is inspired by the sea and Irish Pub’s. My mom said the music was super interesting and very very unique! It was Irish Pub music! Even though the music was out there, my mom said it went along well with the massage and she never experienced anything like it!

The interior design and massage room was another experience! It was awesome! Just like everyone says, and old English Grandmothers house. I remember my massage therapist (who was awesome by the way) telling me how all the decorations are English antiques! Very cool. My mother is a huge interior design buff and LOVED the designs. There was also a ton of fresh flowers everywhere in the Spa!

The Comforter massage room was lighted pink and had a lovely star pattern that moved on the ceiling in a lime green. I actually looked online afterwards to see which one they used and I found it on Amazon here. They also had a wall full of different serums that each had an adjective labeled on them (and I looked… they all had different liquids!!).

Finally, at the end of the treatment we each got a special drink that was geared towards each session. I got a cotton candy rose oil drink in a martini glass! It was delicious. Surprisingly, my therapist asked me what it tasted like and I said LUSH! It was a true LUSH drink! My mother got some tea and biscuits from “the sailors” which she adored. I have a picture of me with my martini pictured below along with LUSH Spa social media posts:

  • The first post on the top right is from the LUSH Cosmetics Facebook page. This post is talking about the LUSH Spa is on its way to North America with a link to the LUSH Spa USA information page.
  • The bottom left post is from the @lushcosmetics Instagram. This one is talking about all the people who are preparing for the LUSH Spa in NYC! They have pictures of people writing the signs and making the products! This was taken at the NYC location.
  • The bottom right post is also from Instagram (@lushcosmetics). This picture is of the crowded shop below the LUSH Spa on Lexington Ave.! Wish I went to this… It looked like a blast!

Have y’all been to a LUSH Spa anywhere around the world?! Please share your experiences!

Full Of Grace

Hallo all! To continue with the cleansers/face products, I wanted to do a product review for the Full of Grace serum bar! I love this thing… Mine lasts a while because I only use it before a mask. It really hydrates and sets the skin for any type of mask. Here is my bar:

SKIN TYPE: This product is super gentle and comforting. I think it would go well with any skin type since it does nothing but moisturize! I have dry and sensitive skin. Full of Grace works miracles on me!

SMELL: This product also has a pretty soft smell. To me, it has a soft lavender smell that has a floral perfume punch to it! I think LUSH says that this product has many butters, chamomile and mushroom! But it is a lovely sweet smell. Nothing to over powering at all!

TEXTURE: This serum works exactly like a massage bar. You just rub it on your face or hands and then it melts down and turns into an oily texture. Full of Grace is nice because it is no to oily at all! You can feel it on your skin after you use it though! It is light and very moisturizing.

FRESH INGREDIENTS: Like every LUSH product, Full or Grace has many many fresh ingredients. There are murumuru butter, chamomile blue oil, organic almond oil, fresh portobello mushrooms, fresh rose infusion and so much more! The ingredient list for this product is jam packed with lots and lots of amazing butters and oils.

NO PACKAGING: I also love how this bar has zero packaging like some LUSH products. It is wonderful to just pull this out from my cabinet and start using it immediately! Also, less waste the better! Full of Grace is also preservative free and Vegan! Two pluses!

I suggest this serum for anyone who uses any type of face mask often! It helps moisturize your skin while the mask is on and prevents it from dehydration! This serum bar is available all year round from LUSH online and in stores. Have you tried Full or Grace?!

Catastrophe Cosmetic Face Mask

I promised this post a long time ago when I reviewed the Brazed Honey face mask! So here it is! Before Valentine’s Day LUSH conducted a face mask campaign in support of all their fresh ingredients! There was even a social media campaign called #LUSHfreshselfies!  The instructions for this social media event are pictured below in an Instagram post:

So this was my #LUSHfreshselfies I posted in the Catastrophe Cosmetic face mask:

Obviously, this face mask was super super fresh! I got this one because I returned 5 of my used pots. I have tried this mask along time ago and wanted to review it so I picked it up again! It works miracles and really soothes the skin. The smell is also pretty enjoyable compared to other face products. According to LUSH, this is a great mask to use when trying to prevent break outs! If you are a blueberry fan I suggest picking this one up. Here are a list of some of the fresh ingredients:

  • Chamomile Blue Oil
  • Calamine Powder
  • Irish Moss
  • Fresh Blueberries (of course)
  • Almond Oil
  • Rose Absolute
  • Sweet Wild Orange Oil

These are a few more social media posts that previewed during this campaign:

  1. The one on the left is from the LUSH Willowbrook Mall’s Facebook Page. I liked this one a lot because it shows the beautiful set up and design that are normally in LUSH stores for the face masks.
  2. The other one is from the LUSH Cosmetics Facebook page – this one is a contest post! Whoever can guess what face mask these rose petals are going in would win (I think they picked 10 winners)! I even commented on this one! Does anyone want to take a guess to which face mask this is?!
