March vs. April Birchbox

Birchbox can either be the greatest part of your month, or one of the worst. Lately, it has been a bit of both. I always try to do the early sample pick (which never works out) and change up my beauty questionnaire to mix up the likelihood of my product selection. In March and April, I received boxes with duplicate products from past boxes or purchases from Birchbox. Here is a comparison of my March and April boxes!

MARCH: I ordered the Roller Lash mascara from Benefit on Birchbox and it happened to come the same day as my March box! How lucky!

PROS: This Cargo Blush has changed my view on cheek shades. I was an all pink lady, but now I am all about the coral shades! A perfect product to enhance your summer glow! I got the Cargo Bronzer in one of my boxes a couple of months back and thought it was OK… nothing unique besides being waterproof! But why would you want waterproof blush? I cannot think of any situation where I will be dolling up my face just to jump in the pool! Can you?

CONS: I purchased an Amika gift set in January from Birchbox with my points… Got quite a bit off! But why would Birchbox then put a product I purchased from them in my box? Just a little annoying… wish it was another brand! By the way – Amika has phenomenal dry shampoo! Absorbs all the oils and leaves you with a blow out look.

APRIL: I absolutely ADORE this box! Such a great collaboration with Rifle Paper Co. Definitely check out their website for extraordinary stationary!

PROS: When I saw the sample selections for April, I was immediately drawn to the Bee Venom face mask… BEE VENOM?? What kind of ingredient is that?? It smells wonderful, is very soothing, and completely transformed my skin from a dry bone to a blossoming flower (a little cheesy, but it’s the truth). This is going to be my next purchase from Birchbox!! BEWARE – if you are allergic to bees, avoid the venom at all costs! Birchbox even sent a warning for costumers who are allergic.

CONS: I mentioned in a blog (see here) that I get tons and tons of lotions from my boxes! STOP! I do not need any more body or hand lotion…! I should have taken a picture of my lotion stash for this post. Plus, the Temple Spa lotion was a REPEAT! My first Birchbox repeat and it wasn’t even a product I liked. Oh well… cannot win them all!

Square Hue 02.14 Collection

I LOVED my Square Hue polishes this month. They were unique and very innovative. The inspiration behind the February 2014 collection was Tokyo. This is also a part of The Passport Collection. If you do not know what Square Hue is, you can find more information here on their website. Basically, it is a monthly nail polish service for $15! It is a great deal for three, sturdy polishes. Here are pictures of my 02.14 Collection:

  • Roppongi – this is the name of the green glitter polish! I was so excited to see this color… it is awesome! Not a lot of nail polish collectors probably have such a light green in their collection that is infused with glitter. This is the first polish I wore from the three and really liked it!
  • Shibuya – this is the magenta micro glitter polish. I have not yet worn this one yet but it is so BEAUTIFUL! I love how vibrant the purple is. It just makes me want to smile! I think the micro glitter means that the glitter pieces are microscope compared to the glitter in Roppongi.
  • Ginza – lastly, this is the name of the blue shimmer polish! I have worn this one. It is very pretty and very smooth and creamy. I love the light shimmer aspect you get in the blue! I was also surprised by how long the polishes lasted without chipping!

What do you think of the Tokyo collection?

Square Hue 1.14 Collection

Hello all! Today I plan on resting, “netflixing,” and more resting! It has been one crazy week for me! An exciting moment of this month so far has been getting my Square Hue package! I was really excited to see what colors they came up with for the The Passport Collection, London!

Here is the box, polishes and swatches:

  • Buckingham (red polish) – This is a high gloss creme polish! When I opened the box, I was first a little disappointed because they have been sending and creating lots of cranberry shades. I actually have this color on my toes right now and LOVE it! It is a darker cranberry shade… and the more coats you put on, the more red it becomes!
  • Westminster (white polish) – This is again a high gloss creme. I have not yet tried out this polish! But it looks pretty simple, white! I am excited to use this lacquer and then put a fun sparkle color on top! The swatch does look like the polish has a bit of a yellow-ish shade to it!
  • West Elm (blue polish) – This is different from the others because it is a shimmer polish. This colors was on my nails all last week and I loved it! The polish does have a dark shimmer to it, maybe a bit light blue! But like the Buckingham, the more coats the darker. I loved this color because I used two coats and it was a dark navy with a high shimmer look. It is probably one of my favorites so far from Square Hue!

If you are wondering what Square Hue is or want to learn more about it, you can visit their website at: http://www.squarehue.com. It is basically a monthly nail polish order for just $14.99! That is a great great deal for three quality polishes! I have already posted a few different reviews over the months so you can check those out bellow! Tata for now!

Square Hue December Collection

Hello all! It is a beautiful day in NY, sunny and very very snowy! Hopefully it stays like this until Christmas! Anyways, today I wanted to post about my December Square Hue polishes. To start, I want to describe what Square Hue is and does. Square Hue is a monthly nail polish subscription for only $14.99! Which is a phenomenal deal if you ask me!  So if you subscribe, each month they send you three new and innovative colors. Another cool factor of this monthly subscription is that they donate the proceeds back to their buyers. It is a really cool idea! So I have been a member since August 2013. This is my first Square Hue post but I plan on going back and reviewing all the other collections.

Today, I wanted to talk about their 12.13 New York nail polish line! Here is the box it comes in, the trio of colors and color swatches:

So as you can tell, the polish comes in a small box filled with white confetti and a pamphlet that talks about the collection and the three different colors. The New York 12.13 Square Hue collection includes:

  1. Fifth Avenue (red) – this is a high gloss creme. I actually have used this color and I really like it! Unlike other reds, it has a great pink pigment to it which creates a strawberry red. I really like this color, especially during this time of year!
  2. Broadway (cream) – this is a sheer pearl shade. I am wearing this color on my nails now and love it because it reminds me of a light snowfall. Plus, it has a sparkle sheerness to the shade. It is always nice to add a simple color to your nail collection.
  3. Time Square (silver) – this is a creme holographic silver shade. Recently, I have really been into holographic nails. This lacquer is no exception. I have worn it for about two weeks because I loved it so much! If you are a sparkle/glitter fanatic (like me), you would also love this holographic shade!

So overall, I really enjoy getting my monthly Square Hue box because it always has super unique nail polishes that I originally would not think about getting!! I highly suggest this for any nail polish lovers! Tata for now!
