Danger! Cosmetics-To-Go Book Review

Hello all! I have some great news… my blog just hit 100 followers! That has been a personal goal of mine for a while now. I am so happy that I accomplished it! Today, I wanted to do a book review on the LUSH book, Danger! Cosmetics-To-Go. This book tells the story of the company before LUSH and helps to describe why LUSH is that way it is today! Here is the cover of the book:

QUICK FACTS:

  • 130 pages long
  • Full of color
  • By Mira Manga
  • All LUSHies will adore it!
  • Made with 100% recycled paper
  • Whimsical
  • History on the company before LUSH, Cosmetics-To-Go

I loved reading this book. It took me about two days over my Thanksgiving break to get through the entire work. It is very interesting because it talks about the superior individuals who created LUSH and where they worked before LUSH at Cosmetics-To-Go. Also, it shares the different, unique product created at Cosmetics-To-Go and how some of them rolled over to LUSH. The book was also very very colorful and whimsical! Every page had its own layout filled with vibrant colors. Here were four of my favorite layouts:

IMG_4717

IMG_4719

IMG_4718IMG_4716

  1. The first picture shows all of the “Christmas To Go” products! I love the look of this page. The bright red is phenomenal and of course, is very timely and fitting. This page also introduces the Hot Toddy bath product that LUSH sometimes sneaks into their collection around the holidays.
  2. The second picture is actually the back of the book. It has about 20 different covers of the Cosmetics-To-Go magazine. Each cover is very unique and extremely different from others. I want to find a vintage one and look through it!
  3. This third layout describes the values of Cosmetics-To-Go or “The Ten Company Rules”. Some of them are value people before profit, behave ethically, develop and promote talent from within, benefit from the use of new technology and so on. You might recognize some of the values on this page because they are similar to the LUSH We Believe statement.
  4. I love this last picture because it shows how Cosmetics-To-Go wanted to keep all of their products fresh. THe layout is also super creative because it looks like a store front! The Cosmetics-To-Go products featured on this page are the fresh Papaya Cleanser, fresh Herb Mask, fresh Asparagus Mask and the fresh Chopped Tomato foot mask. Does all this freshness sound familiar?!

Overall, I really enjoyed this read. It was informational and interesting to see where LUSH inherited all of their values. I also liked to learn about the products that started from Cosmetics-To-Go that have now evolved into LUSH! For instance, the Blackberry Bath Bomb was originally a Cosmetics-To-Go product! Here is a social media post related to Danger! Cosmetics-To-Go from the LUSH Facebook page:

Lexington LUSH Spa Experience

Here is an exciting post for you die-hard LUSHies out there like me! On February first I treated my mother and I to the brand new LUSH Spa in NYC on Lexington Ave. and 61st Street:

IMG_5325IMG_5252IMG_5327IMG_4884

It was a WONDERFUL experience. I had the time of my life! I got The Comforter treatment and my mother got The Good Hour:

  • The Comforter? – This was such a whimsical LUSH treatment. The first part, I had a hot chocolate body scrub on my arms, shoulders, legs, and back! It smelled so great… they need to sell a version of that in stores! It would do very well I think. Second, I had a rolling, rose-oil massage. It went very well with the chocolate aroma! My favorite part of the massage was getting my back done… at that point you are so relaxed! The music was also an extremely unique… my music was very Disney-like because the treatment was whimsical. It was loud at first but after a while you get used to it and actually is relaxing and soothing!
  • The Good Hour – I do not know the exact details about this treatment since my mom got it instead of me. But, she told me a lot about it! First, she had to pick out a massage bar (I believe all of the choices were available for purchase in LUSH stores and online). She ended up picking the Wiccy Magic Muscles massage bar and you can find my blog post on it here. The Good Hour is a deep tissue massaged that is inspired by the sea and Irish Pub’s. My mom said the music was super interesting and very very unique! It was Irish Pub music! Even though the music was out there, my mom said it went along well with the massage and she never experienced anything like it!

IMG_5259 IMG_5260IMG_5262IMG_5253

The interior design and massage room was another experience! It was awesome! Just like everyone says, and old English Grandmothers house. I remember my massage therapist (who was awesome by the way) telling me how all the decorations are English antiques! Very cool. My mother is a huge interior design buff and LOVED the designs. There was also a ton of fresh flowers everywhere in the Spa!

The Comforter massage room was lighted pink and had a lovely star pattern that moved on the ceiling in a lime green. I actually looked online afterwards to see which one they used and I found it on Amazon here. They also had a wall full of different serums that each had an adjective labeled on them (and I looked… they all had different liquids!!).

Finally, at the end of the treatment we each got a special drink that was geared towards each session. I got a cotton candy rose oil drink in a martini glass! It was delicious. Surprisingly, my therapist asked me what it tasted like and I said LUSH! It was a true LUSH drink! My mother got some tea and biscuits from “the sailors” which she adored. I have a picture of me with my martini pictured below along with LUSH Spa social media posts:

  • The first post on the top right is from the LUSH Cosmetics Facebook page. This post is talking about the LUSH Spa is on its way to North America with a link to the LUSH Spa USA information page.
  • The bottom left post is from the @lushcosmetics Instagram. This one is talking about all the people who are preparing for the LUSH Spa in NYC! They have pictures of people writing the signs and making the products! This was taken at the NYC location.
  • The bottom right post is also from Instagram (@lushcosmetics). This picture is of the crowded shop below the LUSH Spa on Lexington Ave.! Wish I went to this… It looked like a blast!

Angles On Bare Skin Facial Cleanser

So since Valentine’s Day/Week is officially over, LUSH USA has already changed their focus to something new! All of their banners and pop-ups on their website have all been changed to information about the perfect facial cleansers! Here are all the banners (curtsey of LUSH USA):

My all time favorite and one that I have been using for a few years now, is the Angels On Bare Skin facial cleanser:

IMG_3805

SMELL: I love the calm smell of this product. First, it takes a bit to get used to since it is not the usual facial cleanser! I think it is pretty calming also. I only use this one at night and the lavender in it works miracles.

EFFECTS: This is a great facial cleanser because it is calming and eliminates my red spots. I do not leave it on my face for a while like some LUSHies do… I just rub it on my face and then wash it off! It is also great because it has some exfoliating properties!

TEXTURE: A lot of people are pretty confused at first on how to use these amazing cleanser rolls from LUSH. You take a snitch of it in your hands, add some water and then break down the cleanser! Once it is pretty watery and chunky you rub it all over your face and body!

INGREDIENTS: Like every review… LUSH products all have super fresh ingredients! The ones in Angels On Bare Skin are: kaolin clay, chamomile blue oil, lavender oil, lavender flowers, ground almonds, rose absolute and much much more! All of the LUSH cleansers are also preservative free and of course, cruelty free.

SKIN TYPE: Angels On Bare Skin is super gentle… I think it would work for almost every skin type. I have pretty dry skin with some breakout areas and this is a miracle product for me! It keeps my skin clear, reduces my redness and exfoliates it! All in one shot. According to LUSH, it is a cleanser for everyone because “it leaves your skin fresh, soft and balanced!”

Angels On Bare Skin is such a great LUSH product. It is a staple for me. I love the way it calms and exfoliates my skin! This cleanser is available all year round… you can buy it based on how much you want like for LUSH soaps. Online, you can purchase 3.5 or 8.4 oz. size! It lasts a while too! What cleansers are you using from LUSH?!

Tender is the Night Massage Bar

So this is the last product review I have for the LUSH Valentine’s 2014 collection. I have reviewed everything else except for the Close To You massage bar which I did not purchase. I will talk about that product a little bit toward the end of this post though! Massage bars are not a necessity for me… I like the idea of them and the feel of them! But I do not use them daily or even weekly sometimes… I still have my first massage bar ever which I purchased a few years back! Here is a picture of Tender is the Night:

IMG_5287

TEXTURE: I love the soft essence of this massage bar. It is a lot more luxurious than ones I have tried from LUSH before! The minute you touch it you can feel how smooth and soft it is.

SMELL: I love the sweet, comforting aroma of this massage bar. It has a lot of vanilla in it! If you do not like vanilla scent this is not for you! It also has a hint of floral in it… I am not positive what that is though! Maybe jasmine?

FRESH INGREDIENTS: The fresh ingredients that make this massage bar are jasmine absolute, murmur butter, organic shea butter, fair trade vanilla absolute, ylang ylang oil and much more!

GREAT MELT: Once you put this on your body it immediately starts to soften and melt! I love it!!! I use this after I shower and massage it deep into my stomach, back, arms and legs! It makes me feel super smooth! For even more of a vanilla aroma and to lessen the grease, you can dust Vanilla Puff Powder all over you! It is a great pair.

Tender is the Night is probably one of my ultimate favorites from the LUSH massage bar collection. I did not get a chance to try the Close to You massage bar from the Valentine’s collection. To me, it reminded me to much of Snow Fairy which I still have from Christmas:

How many of the Valentine’s products have you tried this February?! Here is a beautiful shot of the Valentine’s Collection in the LUSH Lexington location in NYC:

#signoflove

With the recent passing of Valentine’s Day, I thought it was appropriate to share my #signoflove pictures for the LUSH campaign supporting LGBTQ rights. I took all of my #signoflove pictures at the NYC Lexington LUSH location! I am with my mother in the pictures and after this, we went to the LUSH Spa! I will be doing a post about my experience there very soon!

Here are our #signoflove pictures:

IMG_5255IMG_5256IMG_5257IMG_5281

#signoflove is a media campaign that LUSH started in collaboration with Valentine’s Day coming up and the winter Olympics which are being held in Russia. Currently, Russia has many many anti-gay laws which are brutal to human rights… LUSH created this campaign to send all of the #signoflove pictures from LUSHies around the world to the Russian government in support of LGBTQ rights. I wanted to take a part in this media campaign so I posted the bottom left picture of my with the #signoflove hashtag.

Did you participate in the #signoflove campaign?! Share your thoughts and ideas in the comments!

Love Locket Bath Bomb

How many of you are LUSH bath fans? After a long day out galloping through the snow or whatever you do in these frigid months, a LUSH bath is key at the end of the day. LUSH’s Valentine’s limited edition bath bomb, Love Locket, makes for a perfect bath! It is so big it splits up into three separate baths! I used the whole thing at once since my tub is huge:

IMG_5162IMG_5432

IMG_5437IMG_5433

HUGE BATH BOMB: this is probably the biggest bath bomb I have ever used from LUSH… it was bigger than my hand! The bath bomb is made to break into three separate parts so you can use it three times. I used all mine at once since my bath tub is pretty large! It was super easy to break… no need to bring out the rolling pin! I think the price for this ballistic ($10.95) is a bit over priced…. but it is basically a three bath use!

FRESH INGREDIENTS: like all LUSH products this bath bomb has many fresh ingredients which add to the overall texture and scent of the bath! Love Locket has jasmine absolute, fair trade vanilla absolute, neroli oil and gardenia extract in it! The smell of the bath was super mellow and calming. No crazy, over the top citrus scents here! I enjoyed having a calm bath! I read a book for about an hour and a half before noticing all that time went by soaking in my Love Locket! I was pretty water logged!

EFFECTS: Like most LUSH bath bombs, this one had some awesome effects! Every section of this bath bomb released mini pink heart confetti that did not melt in the bath! After you drain the tub, they get stuck to the bottom which was the only bummer. Other than the confetti there was not much else! The small heart had mini red pieces in it that melted. I wish there was some glitter or something to add to this ballistic! Maybe a sweet Valentine message like in the Blackberry Bomb?

LIMITED EDITION: Like all of the LUSH Valentine’s products, this one is limited edition! Get it as soon as possible! I am not sure when they will stop selling the Valentine goodies but it is probably sooner than later!

Have you tried Love Locket? Share your experience about any of the LUSH Valentine’s products below!

And of course… some social media to finish off this post. This Facebook post is from the LUSH Cosmetics Mohegan Sun Casino that describes Love Locket. I really like how they broke it in half! The insides of bath bombs are always mysteries!:

LUSH Valentine’s Social Media

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! It is a very very very snowy day in New York… we have at least 20 inches at my house! Another snow day and five day weekend for me! Today I wanted to talk about all of the latest social media posts from LUSH about Valentine’s Day! LUSH came out with many many posts leading up to this love filled day!

Post #1: This is a wonderful, lovely post from LUSH’s Facebook page. The caption is “Fall in love with LUSH: our Valentine’s Day goodies are in shops now!” This is a multi-fuctional post because it links to their website. I love the picture they attached. Posts always do better and receive more of the audiences attention when there is a gorgeous picture! LUSH always has great photos and I think this one is featured in the new LUSH Times.

IMG_5219

Post #2: This is also from LUSH Cosmetics Facebook page and it is another multi-functional post! This one includes a link to the LUSH blog where you can find the instructions to making this Valentine’s Crafternoon! I love this idea… crafty people are the best people! I have been getting into crafts a lot lately and these are super cute! Might have to make some for myself.

IMG_5163

Post #3: Unlike the top two, this post is from LUSH’s Instagram account (@lushcosmetics). I love this picture because it is incorporating my two favorite items, LUSH and nail polish! This is related to LUSH because someone created a manicure just for the #signoflove campaign LUSH has started this year! I will be doing a whole post about the #signoflove campaign soon!

IMG_5401

Post #4: Another post from the LUSH Facebook page! This on is captioned “Only two days to go until Valentine’s Day! Who’s ready?” And then there is a link to the LUSH USA Valentine’s products. I love the picture they used for this post! It is awesome and so so so creative! I also like how they included the Valentine’s Gifts and it looks like the Prince Charming shower gel has different labels than the usual!

IMG_5509

Post #5: This post is from the @lushcosmetics Instagram! Who has tried the Neon Love soap?! It definitely is a unique limited edition, holiday LUSH product! I suggest picking it up before it could be gone forever! This is a beautiful picture of the soap! These are some good chunks!

IMG_5375

Post #6: This Facebook post is from the LUSH Cosmetics Willowbrook Mall page. This used to be my primary LUSH store that I would go to in Houston, TX. Great staff and super friendly! I like how they did something a bit different telling the ladies not to forget their guys! Dirty is a GREAT and FRESH guy scent! I actually use the shower gel in my shower and am in love… it is so refreshing.

So those are a bunch of Valentine’s Social Media posts from LUSH! You can check them all out in person on their social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram). I still have a few more Valentine themed posts to get out there before the end of the week! Be on the look out! What are your plans this Valentine’s Day?!

Mohegan Sun LUSH Haul

How many of you bloggers have ever been to the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut?! Well it is a completely different world there. I went with my mom to a Luke Bryan concert there and had a BLAST! I even went shopping at LUSH after the concert… we walked out of the venue at 11:35 right to the LUSH entrance… and it was OPEN! I was baffled! Shopping at LUSH at midnight?! It was a dream come true. I dragged my mom into the store and got these goodies:

IMG_5143

  • Chocolate Whipstick lip balm – this stuff is AMAZING. Definitely one of my favorite LUSH products. Review to come very soon!
  • Skin Drink moisturizer – I have been looking for this product forever… they are always sold out in NYC. Excited to try this on my dry face!
  • Perspective lip stick – this is a great color. I have been wearing it daily since I purchased it! This liquid lip stick is a part of the Emotional Brilliance line.
  • Figs and Leaves soap – my goal is to try all of the year round LUSH soaps. I have not yet tried this one yet but it smells great!
  • Dragon’s Egg bath bomb – I have not purchased this bath bomb in a while! Really excited to do a review on this one!
  • Lord of Misrule bath bomb – this is an all time favorite of mine… I got this around Halloween and loved it so much I had to repurchase! Will definitely be doing a review on this before they are sold out! Remember, this bath bomb is only limited edition!
  • SMAPLE – Handy Gurugu hand cream – I am not a big hand cream person so I decided to sample this one before I buy the large pot if I like it!

So this was an awesome way to end an already great concert and day! I love LUSH and anytime I see one I have to go in and meet the sales associates and talk LUSH! Here is the beautiful store in the middle of the bustling casino with my mom in front and the lovely ladies who helped me out (sorry if the pictures are a bit blurry – my camera lens was dirty!):

IMG_5111IMG_5112

And… for those of you who are Luke Bryan fans… he threw a phenomenal concert! One of the best I have ever ever seen! Check him out! He really knew how to get a crowd excited:

LUSH Style Red Lips

With Valentine’s Day coming up, I think it is appropriate to do a post about my recent Emotional Brilliance purchase, Decisive! Emotional Brilliance is the makeup line from LUSH that has lip, eye and skin products. I love this line. I have a couple of items from it and every time I purchase something new, I LOVE the line even more.

Here are some images of my Decisive:

IMG_4904IMG_4905IMG_4906IMG_4987

COLOR: this is a beautiful red shade. LUSH has a few different reds. According to LUSH this one is, “pin-up, vintage cherry red that is bold and vivid in color.” I think this is a great description because it is a bold red but also has a light shimmer to it! This color also goes well with my hair and skin tone! It is not to to TO red but more of a blue-ish red.

WEAR: the liquid lip stick lasts a long long long time. If you do not apply any balm before hand then it is almost like a lip tint! I always apply balm before hand because it makes the lip color more water-y and not to strong. LUSH suggests Ultrabalm (which is my staple LUSH product).

TASTE: this product has zero taste… there is nothing sickening or scrumptious in the lip color once applied! I would just watch out for your teeth. My lip color does spread and get onto my front teeth. If you are planning to wear this color all day, keep checking your teeth!

FRESH INGREDIENTS: since it is from LUSH of course it is cruelty free and composed of many fresh ingredients! The base for the whole Emotional Brilliance line is the balm, Ultrabalm (linked above). The fresh ingredients present in Decisive are: Jojoba Oil, Candelilla Wax and Rose Wax.

Have you used any lip colors from Emotional Brilliance?!

LUSH Valentine’s Gifts
