Hydro Boost Water Gel Review

This week calls for two blog posts (since I missed posting last week)! I decided to finally publish my review of the media-loved + cherished Neutrogena Hydro Boost! This water-based, oil-free moisturizer transforms dry skin into a plump, hydrated complexion. It is also non-comedogenic meaning the formula will not back-up pores and contains hyaluronic acid that repairs damaged skin cells. I was a bit hesitant to purchase a drug-store moisturizer for around $20… it was a risk (but well worth-it)!

I purchased this product in the morning before work after seeing positive reviews upon loving reviews. I was having a skin emergency: dryness, redness, and tightness. My normal moisturizer was not cutting it, I needed an extra BOOST (get it?).

When applying to my face, I immediately noticed the fresh scent and spongey-blue cream. The formula soaks into the skin well, hydrating it quickly! My skin thanked me because within an hour, the blotches dissipated and redness disappeared. I was left with a natural glow that paired well with my natural makeup!

Have you tried this product? Do you think it lives up to all of the hype?

March vs. April Birchbox

Birchbox can either be the greatest part of your month, or one of the worst. Lately, it has been a bit of both. I always try to do the early sample pick (which never works out) and change up my beauty questionnaire to mix up the likelihood of my product selection. In March and April, I received boxes with duplicate products from past boxes or purchases from Birchbox. Here is a comparison of my March and April boxes!

MARCH: I ordered the Roller Lash mascara from Benefit on Birchbox and it happened to come the same day as my March box! How lucky!

PROS: This Cargo Blush has changed my view on cheek shades. I was an all pink lady, but now I am all about the coral shades! A perfect product to enhance your summer glow! I got the Cargo Bronzer in one of my boxes a couple of months back and thought it was OK… nothing unique besides being waterproof! But why would you want waterproof blush? I cannot think of any situation where I will be dolling up my face just to jump in the pool! Can you?

CONS: I purchased an Amika gift set in January from Birchbox with my points… Got quite a bit off! But why would Birchbox then put a product I purchased from them in my box? Just a little annoying… wish it was another brand! By the way – Amika has phenomenal dry shampoo! Absorbs all the oils and leaves you with a blow out look.

APRIL: I absolutely ADORE this box! Such a great collaboration with Rifle Paper Co. Definitely check out their website for extraordinary stationary!

PROS: When I saw the sample selections for April, I was immediately drawn to the Bee Venom face mask… BEE VENOM?? What kind of ingredient is that?? It smells wonderful, is very soothing, and completely transformed my skin from a dry bone to a blossoming flower (a little cheesy, but it’s the truth). This is going to be my next purchase from Birchbox!! BEWARE – if you are allergic to bees, avoid the venom at all costs! Birchbox even sent a warning for costumers who are allergic.

CONS: I mentioned in a blog (see here) that I get tons and tons of lotions from my boxes! STOP! I do not need any more body or hand lotion…! I should have taken a picture of my lotion stash for this post. Plus, the Temple Spa lotion was a REPEAT! My first Birchbox repeat and it wasn’t even a product I liked. Oh well… cannot win them all!

LUSH Retro: Skin Sin

LUSH Retro is a collection of retired products that appear online for a few months. This collection ranges from massage bars to bath bombs! Every time I order LUSH online, I always get a goodie from the Retro collection. My recent Retro purchase was Skin Sin Hand and Body Lotion:

AROMA: I adore the smell of this product. At first, I was a bit skeptical to order a “whipped cherry cream,” but it does not smell like cherries at all! It actually reminds me of the herb, thyme. The aroma is simple, natural, green, and sweet!

CONSISTENCY: Skin Sin is pretty light and not too heavy. I am not a fan of lotions that feel sticky and gooey once applied. This is the perfect lotion to use after shaving because it is moisturizing, light, and smells phenomenal! It works wonders on dry skin.

RETRO: Like mentioned earlier, this is a Retro product. That means it is limited edition AND only available online. It is available in two sizes – 3.3 oz. and 16.9 oz. I got the 3.3 for $9.95 and it has lasted me quite a while! I suggest getting the smaller size to see if you like the product enough for a larger and more expensive bottle.

INGREDIENTS: Skin Sin has a good amount of natural ingredients and safe synthetics. Some of the natural ingredients are almond oil, fair trade cocoa butter, lavender oil, tangerine oil (featured product), and tagettes oil. This lotion is packed with natural oils! It is also vegan.

What is the latest LUSH Retro product you have tried?!

The In’s and Out’s of Charity Pot

Hello all! I am sorry that I have not been blogging daily like I normally do… I was at my Grandmas this weekend and she is still in the dark ages without internet! So to make up for the “blog-less” weekend, I wanted to write a post on the beloved, charitable, awesome, phenomenal LUSH lotion, Charity Pot!

AROMA: I really love the smell of this lotion. It is very calming and relaxing. To me, it smells exactly like chocolate cream. There seriously is no other way to describe this lotion because it is so sweet and cocoa oriented. Although, there is a bit of a floral hint to the super sweet lotion!

DRY SKIN: This lotion works wonders for people who have severe dry skin. Unfortunately, the back of my arms suffer from severe dry skin which makes them very very red and itchy. This lotion really does the job because it hydrates and moisturizes.

TEXTURE: The consistency of Charity Pot is very light. It is not heavy at all. If you are a person who does not like the feeling of heavy lotions on your skin, then this product is for you! I am sorry that I did not take a picture of the product inside the pot… but it is just a creamy white color.

100% GIVING: All of the profits from Charity Pot go to several grass root charities. The charities that receive funds support environmental, humanitarian, and animal rights. Since 2007, LUSH has donated over 3 million dollars to various charities. LUSH also created another charitable product called FUN where 2.5% of the revenue goes to the LUSH FunD.

DIFFERENT LIDS: Each Charity Pot is unique since they all have different lid stickers, which represent one of the charities they support. Although you can individually chose a lid, you are not choosing the charity you support. For instance, the pictures above are showing the lids for the RED Sustainable Travel and HoneyLove organizations. Aren’t they cute?!

INGREDIENTS: The ingredients that make this charitable, exquisite lotion memorable are almond oil, fair trade cocoa butter, ylang ylang oil and so much more… this product is packed with oils and butters.

Before the Easter products, LUSH was celebrating and highlighting their charitable products and also the Peace massage bar. Here are some of the graphics from their website during this campaign:

Celebrate Lotion Review

So for my third post of the day (I have a lot of free time before school starts), I wanted to talk about another LUSH holiday product…. Celebrate! I actually was not going to purchase this lotion but the smell won me over. It is PHENOMENAL!

Here are some product images:

  • Lovely smell – this body lotion smells heavenly. The smell is a light citrus. I really really like this smell… it almost beats Charity Pot! I believe that this lotion was modeled after bubbly champagne for the holidays!
  • Great consistency – this lotion is not to watery and not to creamy. It is a perfect combination of both. I really love how it feels when I use it after shaving. It makes my skin very hydrated and smooth. That is definitely a positive!!

  • Awkward size options – Unfortunately, this lotion only comes in the large pot. I like to but lotion in small pots at LUSH because they stay fresh and if I get tired of it, I can finish it quickly and pick another one! This lotion I got was actually in a LUSH holiday gift set. The set had a Sandy Santa, Karma soap and the Celebrate lotion. So I got the smaller size… yay!

Overall, I really love this lotion. It is great and versatile for any month. I actually think it is more of a summer scent than winter if you ask me! Unfortunately, you cannot purchase this lotion from the LUSH holiday collection anymore. But I am positive they will come out with this one again! I highly suggest it!!! Let me know if you have tried this product!

The Drawer of LUSH

For those of you who have not read my post about my LUSH Haul go look at it! In that post, I have a picture of a drawer with a bunch of LUSH goodies. Recently, I went threw the entire drawer and will be posting separate product reviews on each product. But, I just wanted to talk about what I put in this drawer and some of my must have products that are in it.

The Drawer of LUSH:

The contents of this drawer contain:

  • empty clear LUSH containers
  • Lotions
  • Plastic bags for Volcano foot mask
  • Dusting powders
  • Empty LUSH bags
  • Samples
  • Unused soaps

Above is basically a summery of all the products and contents in this drawer. I basically keep everything that is not shower, face or bath related in here. So that leaves all the body products like foot care, dusting powders, and lotions. As you can tell, it also is a storage for my empty products.

As promised, my favorite and most used products that I reach for in this drawer are:

  • Lovely Jubblies which is a floral breast cream. This is one of my most used and loved lotions because it firms the skin. I use it under my eyes and on my legs. As the description gives it away- it is also supposed to be used for the breast.
  • Schnuggle which is a body butter. I absolutely adore this product. Seriously, it should not be in the Retro collection because it is the best of the best. It is great for people who are not really a lotion fan because it does not leave the skin greasy. I highly recommend this to everyone.
  • Coconut deodorant is another favorite in this drawer. I love the smell of coconuts and this hits the spot. It is a powder that you just dab under your arms. It also makes the under arms very very very smooth. Another plus about this product is that it does not make any deodorant marks on your clothes!

Overall, those are some of my most reached for products that I use daily. Feel free to comment if you have any questions about this post! 🙂
