LUSH Mother’s Day Haul + Gift Ideas

The Mother’s Day collection from LUSH Cosmetics was not a surprise because it debuted a month ago in the UK. Therefore, I knew what products were going to be on my wish list!

  • Yummy Mummy Shower Gel – a lavender shade that smells even better! I have been waiting to try the Yummy Yummy Yummy Shower Gel for ages… this is the closest to it! Hints of berries and silver luster illuminate your skin, making it a great spring shower essential!
  • Yummy Mummy Body Conditioner – a complimentary hydro-boost to its twin! With the same aroma of the shower gel, this product is a fruity moisturizer for extra hydration. I cannot wait to try this duo! Have you?
  • Secret Garden Bath Bomb – A repeat from last year’s collection! This bath is beautiful! One of my favorite floral bath products because it is not too strong and turns your bath a foamy sea green.
  • Rose Bubble Bar – Another repeat from last year! LUSH must think Mother’s love roses… I am not complaining because I sure love them! This bubble bar is a beautiful mixture of citrus and rose to calm and relax the skin.
  • Rose Bombshell Bath Bomb – A new invention from LUSH with red rose petals and soy milk – a new level of bath bombs! I am excited to try this luxurious bath… I am sure my mom is even more excited!
  • Mother Superior Bubble Bar – The odd looking bubble bar! I have no idea why this product looks so weird… I guess it has something to do with an English tradition? Anyways, I decided to get Mother Superior because the reviews were excellent… we will see!

MOTHER’S DAY GIFT IDEAS

What to get for Mother’s Day? My mom sure loves flowers, books, FOOD, natural beauty, and Lilly Pulitzer! Here are some of my picks for vibrant Mother’s:

  • Lilly Pulitzer – Anything from Lilly is a phenomenal gift for Mother’s who adore bright colors and summer! My mom particularly likes the Lilly skirts and tops. P.S. – Did you see my #LillyforTarget post?
  • Dior Rosy Glow Blush – One of my favorite blushes! This blush matches most skin tones and creates a natural, youthful rosy flush! Exactly what every women needs to achieve a summer glow!
  • Alex and Ani – Have you seen the new and romantic collection of bracelets?? My mom would adore the Persephone Collection with all of the pastel shades and flower outlines. She also likes the Crystal earrings – the perfect sparkle to pair with a Lilly!

#LillyforTarget Extravaganza

#LillyforTarget OverviewYes, I was one of those crazy shoppers waiting in line outside of Target to snag my share of Lilly Pulitzer clothing and it was a mad house! I arrived around 7 AM and was 5th in line… the first group of girls arrived at 6 AM (that is determination). Luckily, my local Target is in a quaint, upstate town of New York – the perfect location compared to Targets down south. I sprinted into the store and grabbed all clothing in my sizes… there were only two racks for tons of people! Here are the vibrant outfits I was lucky enough to get!

The classic Lilly dresses with colorful fabrics and lace detail that were the first garments to fly off the racks! I especially love the hot pink and blue dresses. Bella Thorne wore the Fan Dance dress (on the left) to a press event celebrating #LillyforTarget.

I am in love with the navy fabric called Upstream! It is the perfect transition color from spring to summer. The lace coverup on the left has beautiful, gold details on the collar and the white lace top is very, very intricate (for only $32)!

The satin dress on the left in the Boom Boom print is incredibly comfy – the perfect summer outfit paired with a long necklace or belt. This dress does run a bit large… the small on me is equivalent to an oversized t-shirt! I also absolutely adore this romper in the print Happy Place. It really does bring a smile to your face with the warm, youthful colors and will partner nicely with a summer glow! This was the only romper from the collection and on of the hero pieces – when you think of #LillyforTarget, this comes to mind!

Did y’all get a chance to pick anything up on Sunday from #LillyforTarget? I would love to hear your shopping experience in the comments!

Pride: Satisfaction for an Achievement

Happy Fourth of July! Unfortunately, it is pouring rain in New York… the whole shabam – thunder, dark skies, rain, puddles, wind. While stuck inside, I am thinking about the pride we have for our country, our relationships, and our selves. It seems to be contagious and of course, social media proves it!

Pride Week: Holy rainbows – every organization that supports human rights celebrated Pride Week in someway. Many created store fronts decked out in color. Many created new products to showcase pride. Many created images just for social media and sharing. I saw quite a bit on my news feeds from my favorite companies – Baked by Melissa, Julep, LUSH Cosmetics, Teen Vogue.

Baked by Melissa flag #lilly5x5

4th of July: There have been many, many, many Fourth of July posts – from newscasters to the usual #lilly5x5. Here are two of my favorites that scream independence, USA, and patriotic shades. I adore how companies take their brand or product and turn it into something universally recognizable. The USA radiates pride on this day! A whole bunch of PRIDE!

Here is my recent go USA face showcasing my country pride as I stand right near the edge of Niagara Falls. What a thrilling experience! I would love to see y’all’s PRIDE faces!

Social Media Multiples

Ever scroll through your newsfeed and see duplicate images? Or they are not exactly similar, but advertising the same thing? I crash into this event multiple times a day, multiple times a year, with multiple companies.

Baked by Melissa:

The cupcake fad continues with a twist. Baked by Melissa makes bite-sized cupcakes that come in unusual flavors. Other than the yearly collection, Melissa develops a unique cupcake for each month (#miniofthemonth). Past flavors include cotton candy, candy corn, sweet potato pie, and lemon cheesecake. May 2014 was one of my personal favorites (it was delicious!), Neapolitan. Baked by Melissa advertised this cupcake the entire month of May with various posts on all social media platforms with corporate and fan based pictures.

Lilly Pulitzer:

If you are a fan of my posts, there is no reason to go into the speech about Lilly Pulitzer. I feel in LOVE with this Riley Tassel Trim Infinity Loop Scarf (long name). I found these different images advertising the exact same product from the Lilly Pulitzer Pinterest page. What photo do you think sells the scarf better?

LUSH Cosmetics:

IMG_6311IMG_6326

What ingredient do you advertise on Easter? Vanilla? Honey? Aloe? Nope, chocolate! These pictures are from two countries – LUSH Australia on Instagram and LUSH Willowbrook Mall (USA) on Facebook. They utilize the same image and almost the same copy. Coincidence? I think not. I am sure LUSH corporate distributed this picture with a caption. What do y’all think?

Lilly Pulitzer’s Integrated Marketing Communication

Do you get the Lilly Pulitzer catalogs in the mail? The booklets full of color, joy, summer goodness, Florida style, resort wear, and much more! A Lilly catalog always brings a smile to my face because of the gorgeous design!

Catalogs, postcards, or other mail pamphlets inform consumers about new products. These collaterals should fit your brand and market strategy while intriguing a specific audience.

Lilly’s audience: Lilly obviously is a brand geared towards women from generation y and x (younger and middle aged). They probably focus on U.S. regions that have a long summer/spring because of their specialty in resort wear. Their consumers are also part of the middle class.

Lilly’s brand: What do y’all think about Lilly’s brand? What does it convey? Every time I look at a social media post, catalog, store, website, blog from Lilly… I believe it exudes color, fun, joy, passion, and individuality. Their brand is truly unique from others because of their extensive print collection and focus on colors.

Lilly’s integrated marketing communication: My blog post archive is full of posts about the famous #lilly5x5’s and other social media. They have a professional yet fun presence on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and especially Instagram. Lilly is a perfect example of integrated marketing. Other than media, they utilize traditional marketing strategies such as advertisements, articles, email marketing, and mail pamphlets (above).

What do you think about the Lilly brand and their marketing techniques?

P.S. – here is an awesome Facebook post about how they create their seasonal catalogs on the Lilly blog called The Juice Stand!

#lily5x5 Madness

Look through my blog history and notice how many times I blog about #lilly5x5’s. I bet it is nearing 50. I LOVE #lilly5x5. Actually, I just LOVE Lilly Pulitzer in general. Their marketing, PR, social media, clothes, fashion, graphic design, and everything else gets my heart pumping!

I want to share my favorite #lilly5x5’s from the past few months. Hopefully, you enjoy them as much as I do!

Lilly Pulitzer posts new #lilly5x5’s 5 days a week around 5 o’clock (hence, 5×5). You can discover the archive of 5×5’s on their Pinterest board.

IMG_5379IMG_5486IMG_6358

Lilly confirmed that EVERYONE has been wanting to get some #lilly5x5 images. The company created a book that features many of the images. They gave some away in a contest and as gifts when a customer purchased x amount. Do you like this idea?

Timely Social Media

There have been many holidays over the past few months from Easter to Earth Day! I wanted to post my favorite timely, newsworthy social media from various companies to showcase the factors of an intriguing holiday post. Discover now!

IMG_6490IMG_6489IMG_6491

Easter is a great holiday to incorporate branding with universal holiday themes. The #lily5x5 includes a vibrant Easter egg hunt in a watercolor medium. Lilly Pulitzer is known for their watercolor prints! Another example is Vineyard Vines since they attached Easter bunny ears to their logo and mascot, the pink whale! Vineyard Vines always makes their whale festive for various holidays! It is a unique and adorable branding idea. LUSH Cosmetics also posted a cute graphic featuring a product and an adorable pun (“Happy Easter from everybunny at LUSH”)!

IMG_6517Screen Shot 2014-04-22 at 6.28.51 PM

Earth Day was a great opportunity for companies to showcase their commitment and passion for our planet. The @nailitmag Instagram account featured an Earth Day Nail Polish Exchange from Zoya. One could switch out their old polishes (bottle and all) for new ones. This is a great technique from Zoya to encourage reusing glass and disposing of lacquer properly. Go #ZoyaEarthDay! Lilly Pulitzer created another #lilly5x5 that reveals their love for Earth! Making the turtle shell a replica of Earth was a phenomenal idea!

IMG_6501IMG_6499

For those in the United States and maybe even around the world, you probably heard about the bombings from last year during the Boston Marathon. The city of Boston replied positively and strongly from this event by creating the idea of #BostonStrong. Vineyard Vines (a Northeastern company) created a campaign that highlighted their love for Boston with Wicked Strong merchandise. This was a fantastic move since it involved community relations and probably increased brand loyalty.

Basics of Social Media Posts

I collect posts  from different companies or sponsored ads that highlight the social media basics. The basics can be creative, newsworthy, timely, competitive, and much more! Since my collection is getting pretty large, I wanted to share some of my favorite social media posts from the last few months.

Twitter Ad – Yoplait Greek: #TasteOff is a phenomenal idea! Yoplait Greek created a mini survey to inform consumers about the differences between them and their competitor, Chobani. This tweet is very creative: “#TasteOff and tell! Put Yoplait Greek and Chobani spoon to spoon. Read more:…” I love the “spoon to spoon” aspect because it is playing of the cliche – head to head. Great idea Yoplait Greek!

IMG_5210

Facebook Sponsored Ad – Zzz Quil: I loved this Facebook sponsored ad. I vividly remember the night I saw this after the SuperBowl (Seattle won)! It is super creative, timely, and newsworthy! The creative aspect is “Seattle is going to be sleepless tonight.” How many of y’all have ever seen the movie Sleepless in Seattle? This was a great move on ZzzQuil’s part. Social media is an awesome tool for PR practitioners since it is in realtime.

Screen Shot 2014-02-02 at 10.47.02 PM

Facebook Post – Keil James Patrick: Keil James Patrick is a preppy, Northeastern clothing and accessory collection. It was founded by Keil James Patrick (who has a fabulous Instagram by the way). I like this Facebook post because it demonstrates how social media can be a marketing and contest tool. These methods also allow for consumer participation. With this post, if you  “like” or “share” it you could have the chance to win one of the items from the new pearl collection. The motto for this new collection is “Classy Girls Wear Pearls” – this is a great saying that fits the overall brand!

IMG_6133

Facebook Post – Lilly Pulitzer: Collaborations are always a smart idea because they increase a companies target audience. In this case, Lilly Pulitzer partnered with Estee Lauder to create a limited edition make-up bag! This is a great partnership because they both have a target audience of wealthy, adult women. This post also highlights a competition and a hashtag, #LillyLovesEstee

IMG_5224

Facebook Post – LUSH Cosmetics: This is another collaboration post. During LUSH’s #signoflove campaign during Valentine’s Day, LUSH partnered with All Out to promote equality for LGBT individuals globally. This is a wonderful idea because it creates a global audience for LUSH! The only downfall about this post is the length. It is a bit long. Non-profits are a phenomenal way to increase awareness about a company.

Timely Social Media

So my PR side is coming out on this post… I have collected a lot of different social media posts from various companies and outlets about events that have happened so far this year. These events are the Olympics, Presidents Day and Chinese New Years! I decided to do this post in chronological order! Here are the posts that are about Chinese New Years which happened on Jan. 31:

IMG_5230

This is a Facebook post from LUSH Cosmetics Willowbrook Mall! I love this post… it tell s you that it is Chinese New Year and that it is the year of the horse! The only thing that I do not enjoy about this post is that the picture is not related to LUSH… I think using pictures like this is a bit tacky. But then again, LUSH probably did not publish any Chinese New Year original pictures.

IMG_5229

This post is also from Facebook but this time it is a #lilly5x5 design from Lilly Pulitzer. I love the #lilly5x5 designs. I think this is a great idea and job by Lilly! I have talked about previous Lilly social media in posts below.

IMG_5226

Unlike the other two, this is a post from Instagram from the @shopncla account! I guess that they had a special, limited edition #CNY nail wrap design. If you are unaware, ncLA has great nail wrap designs! They are very very popular!

IMG_5402

So now onto the Olympics! I am sure everyone was aware that the Olympics happened at the beginning of February and just ended about a week ago. I thought that this was a great sponsored post on my Facebook account! NBC is the channel that airs the Olympics! What was your favorite Olympic moment?

IMG_5415

This post is also from Facebook. I follow Shaun White who had a countdown from 50 days until Sochi (#countdowntosochi)! I thought that this was a great picture of him winning four years ago. Only is he did that good this year… He is still one of my favorites! Who is your favorite athlete?

IMG_5430

Now this was another post from Facebook. I follow Vineyard Vines which is a Northeastern, preppy company! There logo is a pink whale! The company always dresses up the whale for special events! I guess this is the Olympic spirit whale! How cute?!

IMG_5439

For my last Olympic social media post, I wanted to do another #lilly5x5 from Instagram. I LOVE this #lilly5x5. It is a great take on the Olympic rings with a Lilly flare! If you cannot tell, the rings are painted with various leaves and flowers.

Screen Shot 2014-02-17 at 6.16.38 PM

And finally, my last social media picture is from Lilly Pulitzer’s Facebook page. This post is again…. another #lilly5x5! I loved the look of this painting! It is very very patriotic! I also like this post because it is multi-functional. It connects Lilly’s Facebook to their Pinterest where you can pin the entire #lilly5x5 collection.

I love doing these social media posts from time to time. Let me know if you like reading them! If you are a fan of a companies social media presence share below! I would love to check them out!

Lilly Pulitzer Social Media Recents

Hello all! Sorry I did not post anything yesterday… Tuesdays are my long days. I have four classes and by the time I get home I am to tired to do anything except watch Netflix and chill out. Today I wanted to do another Social Media post about one of my favorite companies, Lilly Pulitzer! I have posted about Lilly’s social media plenty of other times in my past posts. Go check those out!

Post #1: This post is from Lilly Pulitzer’s Instagram account (@lillypulitzer). The caption for this picture is “Spotted in the print studio…” One reason why I LOVE Lilly is that they do not over use hashtags. This is really nice. I love this picture too because it fits the overall theme of the company which is artistic, colorful, floral, clean, fun, flirty and many many other words!

IMG_5075

Post #2: This is another post from Lilly’s Instagram account. This one is captioned “Stir crazy?! Here’s a SHORT story. #buymelilly” During the holidays, Lilly Pulitzer came out with a media campaign to improve awareness through social media with the hashtag, #buymelilly. They had so so so many posts for this! I love this post because currently I am battling a 10 degree day with a foot of snow on the ground! Give me those Lilly shorts baby!

IMG_5062

Post #3: Unlike the top two, this one is from Lilly Pulitzer’s Facebook Page (Lilly Pulitzer). This post is congratulating the new sorority print members to their collection! If you buy one of these new prints, you will get a special surprise! They also have a link to their Sorority Collection. I am not in a sorority in college but these are great patterns and if I was, I would be all over this!

IMG_5117

Post #4: Lilly just posted this one yesterday on their Facebook page. This picture is a part of the #lilly5x5 collection honoring Shirley Temple who passed away yesterday at the age of 85! I LOVE this post. It makes me smile so much! Shirley Temples were my staple drink as a child. You can find the entire #lilly5x5 collection on their Pinterest board.
