Secret Garden

Secret Garden is another bath bomb from the LUSH Mother’s Day range. I believe this product was created a few years back to celebrate spring time. I have never tried it before, so this is a first impression review!

AROMA: The name gives it away, Secret Garden smells like a floral garden! The main smell is rose. There are three different types of rose ingredients in this product – red rose petals, rose absolute, and rosewood oil. A good floral bath is great once in a while!

COLORS: The outer layer of this bath bomb is so groovy! I love the green with the big pink flower. This layer also is very frothy and creates a layer of bubbles not he top of your tub. Yellow and an array of petals are hidden in the middle. This is the secret garden part! The bath water stays a light, foamy green.

DEBRIS: I love the idea of flower petals in a bath bomb, especially one called Secret Garden, but it does make your tub extra dirty! I always have to rinse out my bath tub after bath bombs with petals, glitter, confetti, etc. I love the baths! The cleaning just is a bit irritating.

INGREDIENTS: The ingredients in Secret Garden include rose absolute, sweet wild orange oil, marigold petals, red rose petals, rosewood oil, gardens extract, and blue mallow flowers. The rest of the ingredients are safe synthetics. This bath product is not vegan.

I would give this product 3 stars out of 5. I like the idea of Secret Garden but it really is just another LUSH floral bath bomb. There is nothing that special about it. Although, if you love to experiment with different LUSH baths, definitely check this one out! It is only available while supplies last after Mother’s Day. Check out this lovely quote from the Secret Garden posted by the Woodlands LUSH store on Facebook!

Mumkin + The Mum = Bubble Bath Galore

Happy Mother’s Day! I hope all of the Moms out there are feeling the love today! I wanted to combine two LUSH product review into one post because they are quite similar and I used them together (I was in the mood for a major bubble soak). I mixed Mumkin bubble bar with The Mum reusable bubble bar! Check out the review now.

This is the Mumkin. It is very similar to the LUSH Halloween goodie, the Pumkin. I decided to try this bubble bar since it made raspberry bubbles! I love the smell and tastes of raspberries… so it was worth the $6.

BUBBLES/AROMA/DEBRIS: I used the entire Mumkin for one bath and it produced a ton of bubbles that lasted a while and smelled phenomenal! The raspberry scent radiated off of the bubbles. I enjoyed smelling fruity fresh after this bath! One downfall about any of the Mumkin or Pumkin bubble bars are their chocolate chip eyes. The eyes are adorable but the chocolate sticks to your tub and it takes some effort to scrape off!

INGREDIENTS: The ingredients in this bubble bar are mainly composed of safe synthetics. Although, there are a few natural ingredients which include violet leaf absolute, sicilian lemon oil, bergamot oil, cornflower, and gardenia extract. I am a little unsure where the raspberry smell comes from… it must be a safe synthetic. This product is also vegan and only available for a limited time during Mother’s Day!

The Mum reusable bubble bar is pictured in the top left. This is a great product because it lasts for a while and is totally worth the $9. LUSH came out with two other reusable bubble bars (pictured in the Facebook post). These are Madame Butterfly and Mum Tulip. I ordered the Madame Butterfly for my mom since it has the aroma of Rose Jam. I also had the Mum Tulip last year and loved the Sex Bomb smell!

BUBBLES/AROMA: The Mum is a calming honey-toffee smell that is very similar to Honey I Washed the Kids scent. It adds a touch of sweetness to any bath. The bubbles are quite nice, but it does take a bit of an effort to sway the stick under the faucet. My reusable bubble bars last a few months!

INGREDIENTS: The ingredients in The Mum are composed of safe synthetics and natural ingredients. Some of the natural ingredients include marshmallow root powder, cornflour, sweet wild orange oil, gardenia extract, and bergamot oil. The Mum is also a vegan product and is limited edition.

TAGS: One awesome feature of the Mother’s Day reusable bubble bars are the product tags. These tags contain seeds in them that grow when planted. You soak the tags in water and then plant them! I just planted both of these tags and hopefully, I see some sprouts soon!

What did you get your mom for Mother’s Day and how do you celebrate Mother’s Day?!

New Favorite Bath – Inhale Exhale Bath Bomb

This was the product I HAD to try from the Mother’s Day LUSH range. Anything that creates relaxation is a key product! Inhale Exhale did not disappoint! If you are looking for a interesting, relaxing, and beautifully smelling bath bomb, continue reading!

AROMA: Inhale Exhale has the aroma of the famous LUSH perfume, Breath of God. It is intriuging, earthy, and quite unique! Breath of God is in the list of the “Top 100 Greatest Perfumes of all Time.” The Inhale (red side) has a fruity scent and fizzes quickly. The Exhale (blue side) has a earthy, amber scent and takes a while to fizz. Together, they make the Breath of God Gorilla perfume!

COLORS: I loved the in this colors bath! The water was first a light red and then turned into a deep violet (hence, red and blue make purple). I also enjoyed how the red immediately fizzed and how the blue took at least 10 mins. to fizz out. It was very beautiful!

SURPRISE: I was shocked to see the note in the middle! I had no idea there would be such a positive message inside. A few other bath bombs from LUSH (Blackberry and Fizzbanger) have paper notes inside of them. This message says “Inhale, lay back under the water, listen to our heartbeat, Exhale and relax.” My mother used Inhale Exhale the other night and raved about how relaxing the entire bath experience was.

LIMITED EDITION: This is a new, limited edition LUSH invention. It is only available during Mother’s Day. Although, I am sure they will sell after May 11 (this Sunday) until they run out! Make sure to pick up an Inhale Exhale if you are in need of a deep relaxation!

INGREDIENTS: The ingredients in this bath bomb are ylang ylang oil, neroli oil, black pepper oil, lemon oil, cedarwood oil, grapefruit oil, vetivert oil, and much more! Inhale Exhale is packed with all types of oils, which creates a very hydrating bath. This product is also vegan.

Overall, I suggest Inhale Exhale because it is a unique product from LUSH that is limited edition! I wish it was available all year round… I need to pick up a bunch before the holiday is over! Social Media was also RAVING about Inhale Exhale. I have seen many LUSH locations posting about the aroma and special effects. Check it out:

Even I “Instagramed” a picture of this beautiful bath!

LUSH Mother’s Day Haul

The time has come for my Mother’s Day LUSH collection haul! Just like Easter, I have been waiting to post reviews until I have tried all of the Mother’s Day products! LUSH introduced nine special products to celebrate with Mom that range from shower gels to bath bombs. Here are the products I picked:

That is everything! I did not purchase all of the Mother’s Day products. The other products in the collection include Mum Tulip, Madame Butterfly (I got my mom this one for Mother’s Day), and B Never to Busy to be Beautiful shower gel. This shower gel is a LUSH returnee, which makes it Retro. It is only available online and not with all of the other Mother’s Day products that are in store.

I also wanted to include a bunch of LUSH Mother’s Day social media posts (like always). Check out some of my favorites from various LUSH stores:

SO many Mother’s Day LUSH posts! The top three pictures are from the @lushcosmetics and @lushspain Instagram accounts. I love the LUSH bags in Spain! North America needs to take on that bag trend! The pictures in the middle are both from various LUSH store Facebook accounts. The one on the left features the Mother’s Day set up from the Mohegan Sun Casino (I will be going to see Lady GaGa there on Saturday)! The picture to the right advertises some of the limited edition Mother’s Day gift sets! Both of these LUSH stores are phenomenal! The bottom post is my LUSH Lib called Confessions to Mum! This is such a fun activity that is still going on! Make yours now here. Also, do not forget to tweet or Instagram a #thatswhatmumsaid to enter the LUSH Mother’s Day competition!

Have you tried any of these products from the collection?

Cinco de Ocean Salt

Who celebrated Cinco de Mayo?! Many, many companies did over social media! Cinco de Mayo is mainly celebrated in the U.S. and Mexico. It is always on May 5th and recognizes the historical connections between the two countries. Here are some of my favorite social media Cinco de Mayo posts:

eos – I love eos balms! They are so cute… and these mustaches make them even more adorable (mustaches seem to be so popular)! Eos did a phenomenal job promoting their product in a festive light.

Screen Shot 2014-05-05 at 5.55.32 PM

kate spade – kate spade hit two birds with one stone. They created a post that celebrated Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby! What a smart idea. I also love how they incorporated their blog into the post. The term “Cinco de Derby” is pretty smooth and catchy!

LUSH Cosmetics LUSH posted a Cinco de Mayo DIY! They created a post that shows how to create a “LUSHious piñata!” What an adorable idea. What would you fill a LUSH piñata with?! Share in the comments!

I ended with LUSH since it is the perfect transition into my Ocean Salt product review! I love this scrub. It can be used for the face or body and smells strongly of lime vodka- very Cinco de Mayo if you ask me!

IMG_4245Screen Shot 2014-02-22 at 7.22.42 PMIMG_4246

AROMA: This product is heavenly! You can smell the limes, grapefruits, and vodka immediately after you open the pot! I enjoy the smell and think it is one of the more acceptable and likable smells from LUSH. It is very popular!

DUO USE: Ocean Salt is a face and body scrub. I have heard of many LUSHies using it on their face and loving it! That is not me. I only use this scrub on my body because my eyes and skin are very sensitive to salt. Hence the name, Ocean Salt has a ton of salt in it!

EXFOLIATION: Similar to BIG Shampoo from LUSH, Ocean Salt has a ton of salt that exfoliates the skin. It is a soft exfoliation and not to irritating or harsh. Ocean Salt is the perfect product to use when shaving (but watch out for cuts with the salt – ouch)!

COLOR: As you can see from the LUSH Facebook post, Ocean Salt has a beautiful top layer of light blue. Once you reach the bottom of the pot or mix the product, it turns into a light, creamy color! The cream color still has a lot of salt and smells the same! I wish the entire product was blue… but oh well.

INGREDIENTS: The ingredients in this popular LUSH product are fine sea salt, fresh grapefruit infusion, fresh lime extracted in vodka, coarse sea salt, fresh avocado butter, and much more! From the description of the ingredients, one could probably tell this product is very similar to the popular Mexican drink, the margarita! Ocean Salt comes in two sizes and is not vegan.

I LOVE Ocean Salt. I always have a pot of it in my bathroom. I just finished this one (it looks very loved, doesn’t it?). Share your thoughts on Ocean Salt in the comments! Happy Cinco de Mayo !

A LUSH Necessity – The Olive Branch

These next few weeks are going to be CRAZY for me! I will try to blog as much as I can. I have finals, internship work, guests coming to visit, and I am going to FRANCE! I am so excited to go to Europe since I have never been! Anyways, I just finished up a bottle of the LUSH shower gel, The Olive Branch and fell in love all over again.

AROMA: Olive Branch is one of my favorite LUSH smells. I enjoy the mandarin base with an olive twist! LUSH claims the smell embodies the Mediterranean ocean since it also has a pinch of sea salt in it. I have to agree! This is the perfect shower gel to try if you are in love with citrus infused, natural scents and longing for the beach breeze.

DRY SKIN: This product does well on my dry skin. It does not irritate it or make it drier (which some LUSH soaps can do). I just squirt some on my loofa and enjoy my steamy shower!

SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE: The only downfall about Olive Branch is the consistency. It is pretty runny. The olive oil and the soap get separated. Therefore, it is a good idea to shake up the bottle before use. The picture above is shaken up! Normally, one can see a definite line between the ingredients.

INGREDIENTS: This shower gel has quite a bit of natural ingredients. Some of them are vine leaf infusion, fresh mandarin juice, Fair for Life olive oil, lemon oil, mandarin oil, fine sea salt, and much more! This product is also vegan and is available in three sizes (mine is the 8.4 fl. oz.).

Overall, this is one of my favorite LUSH shower gels! I never get tired of the fabulous smell. I never stop using it when i have a bottle in my shower. I never will stop loving it! I highly recommend this LUSH product.

P.S. – have you heard about the LUSH Kitchen?! You can vote for retired products for them to make on their Facebook page. Check it out here! The only downfall – it is not available in North America. Oh and they also had an Olive Branch Body Lotion! Wish I heard about it in time before they were sold out!

Rose Explosion + Bath Friends

Rose bath products are always very popular. LUSH makes quite a few. They have Rose Jam and Rose Queen! These bath products are loaded with rose petals, rose oils, and rose absolute! I will be reviewing the Rose Queen bath bomb for this post!

AROMA: Once Rose Queen has dissolved, the bath water is very floral and rose-y. The smell is similar to having over a dozen roses blooming throughout your house. It is STRONG! If you are not a rose or floral fan, do not get this bath bomb. I am a fan of rose, so I love this bath bomb! My mom is also a floral freak and adores this bath.

SIZE: Rose Queen is a small bath bomb compared to most of the other ones LUSH creates. This probably has to do with the strong, overwhelming rose smell. There is not enough product to turn your bath water any significant color besides a very light pink.

DEBRIS: As you can see in the picture on the bottom right, this bath bomb has a collection of flowers in the middle of it! I enjoy little surprises like this in my bath. But a surprise, means lots of debris. Rose Queen especially had a lot of petals and flower parts floating around.

INGREDIENTS: Rose Queen is composed of rose absolute, golden needle lily petals (picture), amaranth flowers, apple blossom, blue mallow flowers, and larkspur flowers. The ingredients show how floral this bath bomb is in the tub! SUPER FLORAL! This product also has a few safe synthetics and it is vegan.

Overall, I suggest Rose Queen for only the LUSHies or bath lovers who have a desire to soak in petals and breath in roses! It does make for a nice Summer and Spring bath.

I am not a huge rubber duck fan, but I do have two little ducks that I put in my tub sometimes. I am a HUGE cat fan. So these ducks are perfect 😉 !

Spring Is In The Air!

Like this post if you have discovered any Spring campaigns? These campaigns could be on social media, websites, flyers, catalogs, and so on. This post will highlight my favorite Spring campaigns/social media posts from three different companies.

FACE Stockholm:

FACE Stockholm is a Scandinavian company that originated from Sweden. It was founded by Gun Nowak and her daughter, Martina Arfwidson. FACE produces beauty products that are the highest quality with a variety of colors. The FACE brand represents, “naturally based, trend forward, simple, clean, gorgeous, and fun beauty.” They value the interaction between woman, confidence, and woman empowerment. Here are a few graphics from their website representing the Pastel Story – May 2014 campaign:

Screen Shot 2014-04-30 at 12.30.23 PM

Screen Shot 2014-04-30 at 12.30.34 PM

I adore the top graphic. I love FACE polishes. They have a large variety of shades. If you are looking for a color, FACE has it! Check out all of their polish swatches here. Incorporating products with Spring decor is a wonderful idea.

I also enjoy the bottom graphic since it highlights the key components of the Pastel Story. These are pastel FACE products, FACE swatches, pastel art, pastel flowers, and a pastel make-up look. Inspiration or idea boards always make for a unique, cool, brand worthy graphic.

Lilly Pulitzer:

I discussed the Lilly Pulitzer brand in many of my older posts. In short, Lilly Pulitzer is a colorful brand that focuses on event wear, beach wear, and vacation wear. Although, I am sure you can find something from Lilly for any occasion! I wear Lilly sweater and jeans in the winter and fall. Here are my recent social media favorites which scream Spring:

Lilly Pulitzer created an excellent digital PR campaign called #lilly5x5. These posts are from different social media outlets and highlight the #lilly5x5’s that were created. The only post that does not reference to the #lilly5x5 is the center picture in the top row. “Ring the Bellboy” is the name of that print. Overall, Lilly Pulitzer does a phenomenal job representing their brand throughout social media platforms. This posts scream Spring, Summer, and color!!

LUSH Cosmetics:

LUSH also is celebrating spring and Mother’s Day with digital posts. I have a picture of the LUSH bar on the bottom of their homepage. The bar has references to the Mother’s Day social media campaign, LUSH blog posts about Spring, and Charity Pot information:

Screen Shot 2014-04-30 at 12.31.10 PM

They also come out with a range of Mother’s Day products that are perfect for rainy and sunny Spring Days. You can check them out here.

What is your favorite Spring digital campaign?

Banana Moon Soap

Attention All LUSHies – the Banana Moon Retro Soap review is here! Who loves bananas? This soap is packed with fresh bananas and works miracles on dry skin. Check out the review now and see if you’re bananas for this soap!

AROMA: This product screams bananas. There is nothing to it… just bananas! If you are not a banana fan, it takes a while to get used too.

DRY SKIN: LUSH claims this product is one of their most moisturizing soaps. It works wonders on people who suffer from dry skin. I have dry skin and have not noticed this soap helping it. I will use it more this week and comment below on the results!

EXFOLIATION: I was surprised when I started using this soap because it has some odd exfoliating feature. It does not mention on the LUSH website that it exfoliates. The soap has crushed black flakes in it! Banana Moon makes for a harsh exfoliation.

COMBO: Pair Banana Moon with Gumback Express to get the full banana experience! Gumback Express is a LUSH Retro Shower Smoothie. You can read my review here. After the shower or bath, rub your skin with Sympathy for the Skin to block in the moisture and add even more of a banana scent to your soft skin!

RETRO: This product is available in the LUSH Retro collection online. You cannot get Banana Moon in stores. If you are interested in this product, order it quick before they run out!

INGREDIENTS: Surprisingly, this LUSH soap is mainly composed of safe synthetics. The natural ingredients in Banana Moon are scarce. Some of the ingredients include fresh bananas, coconut oil, rapeseed oil, and organic yogurt. This product is not vegan.

I enjoy this soap because it is unique and very fruity from the other LUSH soaps. Oh, and how many times did I write banana in this post?!

LUSH Social Media: Blogs & Competitions

I have posted a few LUSH social media posts in the past month. I wanted to continue that trend with another post! How many of y’all follow LUSH Cosmetics on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Pinterest? LUSH is active on all four outlets. I wanted to share favorite posts of mine that are unique, timely, and brand worthy:

Screen Shot 2014-01-20 at 7.48.27 PM

LUSH has phenomenal community relations. They support communities by buying local products. This Facebook post links to a company they support, Mapleton’s Organic Dairy. The post also links to a LUSH blog article about local, community relations. PR practitioners need to keep in mind that a strong, positive community relationship will increase their company loyalty. This is important for companies in the new business era.

Screen Shot 2014-04-14 at 1.18.11 PM

Nothing is better than seeing two of your favorite companies interact over social media. This Facebook post links to a Lululemon blog that highlights the LUSH No Drought dry shampoo. Lululemon and LUSH are excellent partners because they both started in Vancouver, both reduce their environmental foot print, and both support a healthy work environment.

Screen Shot 2014-03-10 at 8.50.53 PM

LUSH loves Twitter. They host many “Twitter parties.” One could enter the party with the hashtag #LUSHbeautyschool and then chat with other LUSHies and a LUSH beauty expert. A Twitter party is a cool idea. I have never participated in one but look forward to it in the future.

Screen Shot 2014-03-27 at 10.46.59 AM

Who hunted for the Golden Egg this Easter?! I sure did. LUSH hosted a virtual egg hunt over a week. Each day, LUSH would post hints on their social media  about where to look for the egg! I loved this idea because the consumers were very involved, it was timely, and it included all digital platforms. At the end of the competition, LUSH picked out 10 random winners.
