Korean Beauty From The FACE Shop

Korean beauty is everywhere! From Allure to Refinery 29, Asian brands are taking over the market, and the press. Shopping at The FACE Shop in the Niagara Falls Casino located in Ontario, Canada was my first taste of these renowned products – sheet masks galore, unique beauty tools, and overnight masks were just many of the cool, beauty innovations.

Stars from this haul include:

Oddly, the brand does not sell its makeup online… which is definitely a bummer if a store is not located near you. I ADORE the Peach Cushion Blusher. It creates a perfect sun-kissed flush and comes with an adorable puff for application.

Have you tried any Korean beauty brands?

LUSH DIY – Knot Wrap Display

My latest obsession are the Knot Wraps from LUSH Cosmetics. These 100% recycled, colorful scarves catch my attention! I love the floral designs, the versatility, and the price (only $6, heck yes!). My collection has grown quite rapidly this summer. I have gone from one scarf to 6 overnight. I used to keep them on top of my LUSH DIY box (post here) until I realized these beautiful designs needed to be displayed!

I started doing some research. First Pinterest, second LUSH stores, and third my own photo collection. Where I found these:

FRANCE STORE FRANCE STORE

I love the simplicity and colors of these felt garlands. They inspired me to create this LUSH DIY post (along with my other research tools).

STEP 1: Find  two ribbons & clothes pins that inspire you. I opted for my usual: pink, flowers, and sparkles.

STEP 2: String the ribbon through the clothes pins. This part can be tricky since the clothes pin hole is super small.

STEP 3: Tie mini bows with your second ribbon and glue them onto the back of the clothes pin (the space where it opens and closes). This adds an adorable touch!

STEP 4: Tie a bow at both ends of the ribbons and nail to the wall. I tried tape for the first few days but it kept falling from the weight of the Knot Wraps.

STEP 5: Put up your Knot Wraps or other LUSH Cosmetic goodies and enjoy!

Do you like my Knot Wrap display? How many Knot Wraps do you have? The ones displayed in mine are:

  • Miranda – red with fruit
  • Flirty Floral – purple and pink watercolor flowers
  • Wild Flower – black with colorful flowers
  • Psychedelic Summer – blue neon (no longer available)
  • Mr. Bumble – green and yellow (no longer available)
  • LUSH words – black with LUSH type (no longer available – part of gift set)

Heres is my latest DIY favorite I found on Instagram. Who doesn’t want a LUSH basket?!

Phoenix Rising & Fizzbanger

I have barley posted this summer… what a bummer on my part & I am sorry! It has been a hectic few months with a new job, traveling, and getting ready for school! My goal is to blog a few times each week during the semester… let’s pray this happens!

Today I wanted to discuss two baths I recently took – Phoenix Rising and Fizzbanger! Both of these Bath Bombs are available year round at any LUSH Cosmetics location. They are very unique!

Fizzbanger: I was never attracted to this product, until my mother used it! She swore by the smell and color of the bath. I had to give it a try. Fizzbanger is composed of apples and cinnamon hints with pop rocks that explode in the bath. If you put your head under water, you can hear the fireworks going off (hint, Fizzbanger)! There is even a secret note inside the bath bomb. Can you feel the fizz already? I enjoy this bath a lot and would recommend it to anyone looking for a unique bath time!

Phoenix Rising: This was the first ever Bath Bomb I tried. I fell for the purple and gold outer layer with cinnamon hints. Yet did I know, the inside was a beautiful emerald green. This luxurious bath bomb is composed of cinnamon, cocoa butter, and shea butter. It moisturizes the skin to a new level. Even though I love LOVE this bath, I was disappointed with my last one. The bath bomb sunk, barley fizzed out, and lacked overall scent. Hopefully, that was just a fluke because Phoenix Rising is one of my all time favorite LUSH products!

Snake Oil – The Gold Mine for Dry Scalp

It is no secret that my scalp is super dry. I seasonally suffer from dandruff and the urge to itch. I was on the hunt for a product that alleviates scalp issues and of course, Snake Oil Massage Bar from LUSH Cosmetics is my lifesaver.

Snake Oil Wrapped Snake Oil

AROMA – Snake Oil has a musky scent that is similar to the LUSH Solid Shampoo Bars in Soak in Float and NEW! Do not worry about the scent since it does not linger.

USE – I use this product after shower time by rubbing it between my hands and spreading the oils throughout my roots. It is easy since the consistency is not sticky or hard. You cannot use this before showers because the healing oils will wash out. The BEST part about Snake Oil is the day after use. Your hair is silky, soft, and itch free!

RETRO – I remember looking up this product online a few years back debating whether or not to purchase. At the time, I said no but regretted that choice. A year ago I discovered Snake Oil again in the LUSH USA RETRO Collection (it is not there now, but makes an appearance here and there). Unfortunately, yes, this product is Retro and hard to come by. LUSH offers another scalp treatment called Superbalm that is no match for Snake Oil. You can check out my review here for Superbalm.

LUSH Cosmetics Summer Events

LUSH Cosmetics advertised 2 events so far this summer. The first was the #LUSH200 store opening in North America. The second is the #finfree movement. Here are some highlights from each:

The #LUSH200 details: The 200th LUSH Cosmetics store has officially opened in North America! LUSH Cosmetics in Yorkdale Shopping Centre located in Toronto, Canada is the lucky store! LUSH celebrated this event with giving out $200 gift cards across North America, creating fresh batches of products in store, having a dance party with a well renowned DJ, and even some beauty bloggers made an appearance. Did you win a gift card or participate in any of the #LUSH200 events?!

The #finfree movement has officially begun. LUSH partnered with Shark Week on Discover Channel and the finfree movement to help stop shark killings. Shark fin soup is a popular dish in many Asian countries that requires fins from sharks. The #finfree movement is here to stop these killings and protect sharks all around the world. You can sign the petition today here and buy the Shark Fin Soap (limited edition) from LUSH to stand with the #finfree movement!

The Citrus Duo

Citrus shower gels are awesome. They are refreshing with a twist. They get you ready for the day. They are the perfect product to use when searching for a pick me up. My two favorite citrus shower gels from LUSH are Happy Hippy and Back for Breakfast.

IMG_4682 IMG_4683

Happy Hippy is packed with grapefruit. It reminds me of elementary school. Every morning my mom would cut me up a grapefruit and serve it with scrambled eggs. Grapefruit was my childhood coffee. The aroma of Happy Hippy makes you smile and think positive. You begin your day with reassuring thoughts. It truly changes your tiredness into happiness. I recommend this shower gel for anyone who loves an awakening morning shower!

Back For Breakfast is a retired LUSH shower gel (a.k.a – only available in the Retro Collection). Like Happy Hippy, this product is ideal for morning showers since it contains an enormous amount of citrus that wakes you up. The difference is the ingredients. Back For Breakfast is a citrus cocktail with lime juice, grapefruit juice, and lemon juice. The lemon juice and oil is especially strong. Surprisingly, Back For Breakfast is available now in the Retro LUSH USA Collection.

Overall, go for Happy Hippy if it is the only option available. If you have access to Back For Breakfast, I would get that one because of the citrus cocktail. Happy Hippy can get overwhelming. Back For Breakfast will never disappoint.

LUSH Kitchen – UK Style

The LUSH Kitchen in UK is a few months old now. They make small batches of exclusive LUSH products – retired and new inventions. The list ranges from Lemon Melt to Baby Face Cleanser. Any LUSHie would die to get their hands on these unique, rare goodies!

I collect all social media that revolves around the Kitchen. Some of the above posts are directly from the LUSH Kitchen while others are from bloggers or regional LUSH Cosmetic stores.

PROS – You get to discover LUSH products you never, ever heard of. A guilty pleasure of mine is to check the Kitchen menu. I need to see what they are making and then research the products! Some of the inventions are very innovative, creative, magical, rare, and much more!

CONS – The LUSH Kitchen is only operating in the UK at this moment. All North American LUSHies are out of the loop! Fortunately, you can still order from UK but it is difficult to get exclusive items when they only make a limited quality (and they always seem to be “Currently Unavailable”). Rumors are spreading like wild fire though… apparently LUSH Kitchen will be coming to Canada SOON, hopefully!

I have not yet splurged on any of the LUSH Kitchen items. It has been hard… but the exchange rate between USD and Pounds is ridiculous. Have you ordered from the LUSH Kitchen yet? Share below!

P.S. – I will not be posting for a while… I am going to Kauai! Feel free to email me if you have any questions about my posts!

Pride: Satisfaction for an Achievement

Happy Fourth of July! Unfortunately, it is pouring rain in New York… the whole shabam – thunder, dark skies, rain, puddles, wind. While stuck inside, I am thinking about the pride we have for our country, our relationships, and our selves. It seems to be contagious and of course, social media proves it!

Pride Week: Holy rainbows – every organization that supports human rights celebrated Pride Week in someway. Many created store fronts decked out in color. Many created new products to showcase pride. Many created images just for social media and sharing. I saw quite a bit on my news feeds from my favorite companies – Baked by Melissa, Julep, LUSH Cosmetics, Teen Vogue.

4th of July: There have been many, many, many Fourth of July posts – from newscasters to the usual #lilly5x5. Here are two of my favorites that scream independence, USA, and patriotic shades. I adore how companies take their brand or product and turn it into something universally recognizable. The USA radiates pride on this day! A whole bunch of PRIDE!

Here is my recent go USA face showcasing my country pride as I stand right near the edge of Niagara Falls. What a thrilling experience! I would love to see y’all’s PRIDE faces!

First Canadian LUSH Experience

Canada immediately comes to mind when I think of LUSH Cosmetics North America. A bulk of the products are made in Vancouver along with most of the corporate offices. Being the LUSHie that I am… I have been dreaming of visiting my first Canadian LUSH. LUSH Cosmetics in the Toronto Eaton Centre made my dream a reality!

The Eaton Centre LUSH staff are PHENOMENAL! They are friendly, lovely, funny, happy, and more. They truly embody the overall essence of LUSH Cosmetics. The manager, Jamie, especially stood out. She has beautiful turquoise hair paired with lovely, LUSH-ious skin. She knew everything about everything LUSH.

Jamie offered to pamper me with a facial trying out the three products I picked (facial products in haul)! It was an awesome experience… that I surprisingly never got asked to do in a LUSH USA store. LUSH Canada was beyond my expectations, it was a perfect LUSH!

LUSH Cosmetics Eaton Centre Haul:

If you cannot tell, I am changing up my facial routine for the summer! I will let y’all know how it goes. But for now, get over to the Toronto Eaton Centre and visit one of the best LUSH Cosmetic stores!

LUSH Mother’s Day Bubble Bars

Hello all! I am very sorry for not posting last week… it has been one crazy month! I finished school, struggled through finals, and my boyfriend visited from Houston. I am also packing for FRANCE! Yes, I am heading to France in three days to spend time in Paris and Normandy! I am an Europe virgin… so this will be an experience of a lifetime! I am not sure how blogging will be over in Europe. But, I plan to blog a couple of times before I leave. Now to the LUSH limited edition Bubble Bars:

IMG_6652IMG_6653IMG_6655IMG_6558

This is the Rose Bubble Bar from the LUSH Mother’s Day range. It is a beautiful rose scent and creates a light pink bubble bath! I really enjoyed this bath because it was simple. There was no debris, glitter, or overwhelming scent. It is a great starter bubble bar. Unfortunately, this Rose is not available online, but it could still be available at your local LUSH store! Check it out before it is too late!

IMG_6638IMG_6555IMG_6527IMG_6606

Wonder Woohoo is another bubble bar from the LUSH Mother’s Day range. I was very excited to try this one since it is covered in good glitter and is inspired by Wonder Woman! LUSH did a phenomenal job connecting an inspiring, female superhero to mothers all around the world with this product! Wonder Woohoo creates many bubbles and turns the bath water a liquid gold. The scent is a fresh citrus. Some of the natural ingredients include  cornflour and Brazilian orange oil. The other ingredients are natural synthetics. Unlike Rose, this product is still available online at LUSH USA. Wonder Woohoo might also be available in LUSH stores also for a limited time.
